Commercial Vehicle

So our trucks are classified as commercial vehicles correct, so does that mean we can park in a commercial loading zone? Here in downtown San Luis Obispo, California we have 20-30 mins commercial loading unloading zones. This guy at work today told me since i have a truck and pay for a commercial registration, I can park there for the alotted time, anyone know if this is possibly true?

I recently registered the L here in Florida, from Cali, and looking at the old registration I noticed it said "commercial". I didnt know that until like a week ago. Thats a good question...
BTW, I hate CA DMV I paid $1700 to register it there (compared to $100 in FL with a military exemption )!! Hope I never have to go back there.

Well, not sure how other states defind it but yes, in california, we can park in the yellow (Loading zone)
the way the police and DMV told me is that our truck has the number then one alpha then all numbers on our license plate. This is usually issue to pickups.........versus passenger cars and SUV are issue the normal ones
hope this helps........

Here in NY, pickups are commercial as well. A few years back, they made a change to the law, that if you had a 1/2 ton pickup that was not used for business purposes, you could switch to passenger plates.

Yes you can, and as a added bonus the Feds pass a law that states if you are driving a commercial vehicle you can NOT go to traffic school for speeding tickets
So say good by to my commercial plates

In Ohio, everybody gets non-commercial which are expensive car plates. I have commercial on my vans, though. I thought the driving school thing was for a CDL and not how the vehicle was registered.

I might check. I havent had to take a driving class since the year I got 18 points, all for speeding. After that, life on the road sucked, and I basically ride with a ticket like every three years or so. But, licenses are SO different that 20 years ago. Just read that for the patriot act, we, in Ohio, will have to pay like $150-250 to renew a license. It's $45 now, and was like $10 three years ago.

So, it would be better to get a ticket in the L than in the vans.....

Just signed up for personalized "Recreational Truck" plates. Get them in 6 weeks. 1/2 the cost of normal truck plates in Colorado
