Angry MTX Thunderform Issues

Well, got the thunderform today.
Got home
Pulled out the tool tray.
Pulled the CD Changer and damn.
The Cd Changer has studs, not bolts or skrews.
Issue is the Studs are in the way...

2000:

Bend 'em over, back and forth. "Viola". Dab on a little rust proofing or silicon.

Drill your two holes. Use stainless bolts, lock washers & nuts.

Or lay the Thunderform in your lap while you drive. The vibrations are great! Your choice....

Good Luck and have fun!

I went to Home Depot and had them rip me a 2"x3/4"x48" piece of wood, bought some gray spray paint, and I'm going to shim it above the studs, below the carpet. and we'll see what it looks like.
I'm now dealing with the cd changer location...

Thumbs up

Steve:

Make sure the pass. seat still slides back into it properly. I understand the hesitation not to remove anything, but.....
It's made to fit flush to the floor.
It fits up right under the back molding perfectly when installed directly to the floor. If you prop it up higher than intended, it won't mold into the interior as well.

Just my $.02

BTW, CD changer under the lh/side of the pass. seat my idea of perfection!

Hi Tampa;
Where did you put your amp? Is there enough room under the seats for the changer and
amp(s)? My idea was to put two amps in, one for the thunderform box, one for front components and use the factory output to power the rears. So I'll need to put two amps under the seats plus the changer.

I thought I saw a picture of your install with the changer located above the thunderform attached to the rear bulkhead behind the passenger seat.

I pick up the beast tomorrow but I'd appreciate your input. Your attention to detail is what I am after.

THX
Frank

Frank

I thought I'd save Tampa the trouble.

Your truck is awesome Tampa and my only comment is the front license plate takes away so much. I'm assuming its a law down there and that is why it's there?

Talking

Those of us who are old and deaf don't have to worry about these issues. If a "thunderform" does what I think it does, you guys won't have to get old before you go deaf.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Cool

Franko & Pacecar:

There is plenty of room under pass. seat for a large amp. I went with the Clarion 5-channel because it is very thin. With over 500w max. power, it'll push whatever you can put in the Lightning.
5th. channel is dedicated for just the subs.. Even with the additional boost gain all the way down, it'll still blow out the windows. Not deaf yet, though....

CD changer has been relocated under the pass. seat since the previous photo. With some good advice from members here, I moved it. Mounted to the Thunderform definitely the wrong place for it.

Front license plate? It say "Ford Racing". Not a law down here to have one up front....

Cool

Did you move the amp somewhere else when you put the Disk changer under the passenger seat?

I don't care to have front license plates on any of my vehicles and find that it takes away from the trucks good looks. I guess its alright since no one will make it in front of you.

Either way your truck is very cool and very unique as well.
