Cool Baumann Engineering

O.K. Guys, Seems like we are all looking for some type of transmission control. Well, being in the Mustang scene I have dealt with Baumann before. They are currently offering a Transmission Control System. They do not offer one yet for our transmissions. But, just think of the possibilities.... being able to control your tranny with a laptop I have E-mailed them, but have not recieved a answer as of yet. This would be a very cool add-on don`t you think? Here`s the link below.......

Thumbs up

Just put a TransGo shift kit in it. You can adjust it to what you like. You will also get more out of it, than just what electronics can do Best of all it can be removed(back to stock) and it's only $100 bucks.

I have used Baumann in the past, and they make a great kit. The only problem is they don't have one for the 4R100 yet.

Hi Guys
I have pitched the Baumann idea several times here over several months (check the old post). Yes you can set it up because when I spoke with Karl quite a while back there was not a plug in wiring harness available to use but you could build your own. The other idea that I pitched was to use DFI. If you have been watching this board for a while you would have seen the problems that many of the Lightning guys are having to get the best possible tune out of their motors. There are a lot of defaults build into the stock EEC and I really don't care for the Band-aid approach of adding a chip and then asking it to fix this and to fix that and to then still find the vehicle stumbling. Why not start with a clean sheet of paper and use the Baumannator to control the trans. and DFI to control the motor and as I have stated before once under the influence of DFI you can throw the mass air meter away too. Now just think about this for a while and analyze the philosophy and I think you will see that it makes sense. Look at the control that you can gain over the motor and trans. No more default settings to save the trans, build it right and build it tough and if it breaks fix it. This vehicle can come alive! I should know in a couple of months.

Hey Babolt, I know exactly what you mean about tunability. We just finished intalling a sequential DFI on one of my friends stangs. Hands down, total engine control is the way to go. After spending all that money for Mass air meters, Low impedence injector driver, SVO extender`s etc... My friend realised DFI is the way to go. I agree with you, Chips are "band-aids". I like your style , sounds like you have something brewing, I would love to know if DFI could be incorporated with the L. Let me know what you find out

Hey BA,
I do and I don't agree with you on DFI.

Yes it would be great, to do any performance set up you like.

But in my past case with a A.S.M./502 chevy, Accel calmap ver.6. I was forever tweaking it and never got the daily driveablity out of it. I just don't think the average gearhead can do it. If everyone had a "expert DFI tuner" in their town maybe.

This is just my .02
