Insurance for Racing???
Who is everyone using to insure their lightnings.
My Insurance co just called me and said they are dropping my L from my policy because they found out that I was racing.
I slipped up when I was insuring my trailer..

This is the State Farm agent I use in pistcataway. 732 981 0280
We have Michelle's Cobra under them and my truck is going on in March.
As for the trailer...I ran into that problem when I had an enclosed trailer for racing my jey skies. The first thing they ask was if the trailer was for racing....So I lied and said no....

No company short of Loyds of London will insure a race car. I have search high and low for it. If your L is still licensed as a street legal vehicle you should have no problem insuring it. If you told your agent you only race it you are screwed. Most will insure it while it's street driven but not cover it on the track.

I will be putting the truck on State Farm for 2 reasons.
1 They beat NJM in price.
2 NJM will not insure my Bike.

Most every policy I have read, has an exclusion for damage caused while racing anyway. Point is...even if they don't cancel the policy, your going to get denied on a claim filed from a race track.

Drag racing may be another issue, since it is inherently timed or scored. But I remember reading this case where just past the 1320 mark, a guy wiped out. Sued his insurance company for coverage. Held: when he crossed the finish line, the "speed contest" was over, so the insurance company was on the hook. Strange, but true. All doubts are resolved against the insurance companies on exclusions.
Several companies have wised up and changed the exclusion to being on "a racing surface." Read your policy carefully.

this is the one i meant to post earlier. they have policies for on and off the track. worth looking into.
i was talking to an allstate claims rep the last time i took the wifes truck in for hood damage. i told him flat out that i raced my truck and asked if i got in an accident on the street if it would get denied. even though its got a roll bar in it he said it would be covered unless proven i was at the track. within reason of course.

There is no question about that. It's not like adding an aftermarket part and voiding your warranty. The "speed contest" exclusion applies only when you wreck your car during a speed contest. You may have raced the thing solid for 99% of its life, but so long as you were not racing when the accident occurred, you're golden.

But seriously, sorry to hear about your dilemma
