Stopped in at Elder Ford today to buy a white L. They wouldn't sell it at A-plan discount price. They are asking sticker price for it. I guess I will have to wait on the one I ordered from another dealer. This warm weather is making it VERY difficult to do! I can do it, come on snow!!!

Question

Hey SVT Tommy...I am not familiar with a "Z" Plan ? Can you fill me in ? And can you provide specifics of the difference between the "Z" and "A" Plans ?
Also, I have r ead recently on this site that it is illegal for the dealerships to not honor the "A" Plan ? Whats up with that ?

A-plan is for active employees and Z-plan is for retired employees. I don't think the dealer has to honor the plans if it's on a limited production vehicle like the SVT's. There are plenty of dealers that will do it though. I bought mine from Fairlane Ford and was told that Village, Demmer, and Briarwood Ford would all do the plans.

The dealer doesn't have to honor "A" or "Z" plan on anything. One exception may be if you ordered it.

A and Z plans do NOT have to be honored on any car the dealer has on his lot. It is completely up to the dealer. Now 99% of the cars on the lot any ford dealer will do.

Under the current A and Z plans a dealer does have to order you a A and Z plan car/truck if you request it and then honor the A and Z plan pricing. Down side of this is you'll wait 6 to 8 weeks to get a a truck, and then who knows if they'll be any more lightnings left....

The only thing that makes me mad is that I have a white L on order which does not have a build date yet,but 1 mile from where I work there is a white L on the lot for sale and I can't have it for A-plan price. For $4000-$5000 I can wait, besides it is turning cold again tomorrow.

I've read of several '00 L's for sale at dealers lots. I was told that all ordered trucks would be built before the stock trucks were sold. What gives?

Wantone, The last time I was able to buy a car under Z plan you got it for invoice less holdback. As far as I know that is the same as A plan. I guess they do it for bookkeeping.
00Black, Iwould guess its almost always $$$$$$$. Or gas prices. The truck that came in after mine was up for grabs after the buyer backed out. Who knows they might discount them if they sit long enough.

Question

Do any of y'all know of any extra 00s (black preferred) sitting around it the central Texas area (Houston to Dallas to San Antonio)? I am having problems communicating w/ my dealer and maybe want to find an alternative to buying from them....or at least grounds for negotiation. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Duck01,

Here are 4 SVT dealers that I know of in the N. Dallas area who will sell a new truck at sticker. I've heard of people having to pay more than sticker for these things, so sticker isn't too bad.

Bob Tomes Ford, McKinney
Bankston Ford, Frisco
Baillargeon Ford, Richardson
Prestige Ford, Garland

I have no idea what their inventory is right now, but it wouldn't hurt to look them up, give them a call and find out.
