Wyldman
Dragon Claw,
You can hammer the snot out of that rascal as soon as she gets warm enough to have oil flowing well. In my experience, Fords tend to be pretty tight (especially the mod motor models). If you drive it like you stole from day one, it will do nothing but get stronger as it loosens up.
When I first got the Black Beast, I could hardly turn the tires over, it launched like a rocket and kept going. At about 3K miles, I started having traction problems, the motor was getting so strong, that even with new tires on the back, it would flame 'em quick.
Now, at 10K miles and the 100 HP shot of N2O, I am having to become a magician to get Beastie off the line w/o huge volumes of burnt Goodyear smoke all around.
One thing to remember, most important, you are sitting almost 4 feet off the ground, you don't get the same sensation of speed as you would in a Vette, F body, Mustang or anything else that sits lower. If you feel like your doing 70, you are more likely running 95. Get a radar detector (a good one, like the Valentine, or a top of the line Bel), it will save yer butt!

Chuck, you are sure right about the sensation of speed being deceptive. Went to the store to pick up a bed mat tonight. On the way home I get stuck behind some vato driving a late model Tundra with a car club plaque in the window. He won't move over, but the cars in the right lane exit the freeway, so I pull up to him on the right and throw a look at him. He gives me a big sneer, so I just smile and punch it, dropping him like a used condom. I think I'm doing about 90, but I shoot a glance at the speedo and I'm doing 110. I think I am going to have mucho difficulty keeping my license if I keep driving this puppy.

I don't know what you came out of but I had a 93 L. At a certain sound level and vibration in the 93, I was going 85. At what I preceived to be the same conditon in the 99, I was going 105. Drain the oil and add synthetic as soon as you get a few miles on her.
