Tire Wheel dilemma 20" or 22"
Tire Wheel dilemma 20" or 22"
Looking to replace my 18" Stock wheels. Looking for input of those that have upgraded to a 20" or 22". If I go with the 22" does the ride quality or handling suffer?
Also looking for suggestions on the best rubber to add , currently considering the Goodrich G-Force TA 305/40/r22 or Nitto NT 420-s. Any experience or suggestions are appreciated.

Especially on a Lightning I would suggest no larger than 20. When the rubber gets to thin the vehicle is more likely to pick up and move over bumps around turns etc... plus 22 may look too big in a sport truck and really slow it down as well.
I have 22’s, the ride is the same as stock (at least I can not tell the difference), and the truck feels like it handles the turns better. Only thing is it does not chirp second gear like it did in the 18’s after I put the FTVB in. Get 22’s or stick with the 18’s.

You will deffinitly lose performance with 22's and 20's, the wheels are the last place you want to add weight.
I have also seen only 2 L's that looked good with 22's usually it just looks way to big almost like a 4x4
If you get the 22s, put a set of 4.10 gears in as well. Mine pulls stronger with the 22s and 4.10s than it did stock. If I could have found a set of 20x10s, that I liked, I would have gone with them instead. Now that I have 22s, I can't say I'm at all disappointed.
I don't think they look too big in an F-150 wheel well either.

Don't do 22's ride quality suffers the taller the rim and shorter the sidewall. Don't let anyone try to tell you different. While I love my 20's and it still rides great it was better with the 18's

295/45-18 = 5.2" sidewall
295/40-20 = 4.6" sidewall = .6" diff
285/35-22 = 3.9" sidewall = .7" diff

Go big or go home!!!!!!!
