Post Tire....:-(

I need to buy 1 Goodyear tire 295/45/18 for the Lightning due to a friggin nail through the outer edge of the tread into the sidewall. Anyone now of the cheapest place to get one? The Goodyear dealer her told me 395.00 That totally blows... Thanks Jeff

Unhappy

And another one bites the dust...

Search for tires and you'll see what others in your shoes did. I think tire rack is cheapest.

Try taking the Tire Rack quote into the goodyear dealer and tell them if they do it for that price mounted & balanced you will buy it from them. I had a quote lower than that this summer. Don't let them hose ya!

Thanks for the replies guys. This is what I did....my Goodyear dealer here quoted me a 395 price for one tire.. I called tire rack and they told me 225 for the 295/45/18 F1 GS. I couldn't believe my ears. They also had them in stock too. I told the guy I would call back after I checked something out(my dealer hehe) I went to the local Goodyear to either pick up my old tire or see if they would price match tirerack. The guy there could not believe it! I gave him the mag. ad plus the name and ext. of the tirerack guy to vertify. He didn't though. He said let me check with my boss....came back and said the best they could do was their cost of 295.. I told them that is a far cry from 225. I said I could eat maybe 20 or 30 bucks but not that much. The guy said oh well sorry. I loaded my tire and wheel in the car and came home a ordered 1 tire from tirerack. When all the shipping and taxes were calulated I still saved 80 bucks...180 bucks from the original price.. Still sucks that I had to find that friggin nail that took out my sidewall but I feel a little better that I was able to get about the lowest price possible. Thanks Jeff

Great to hear you got a tire coming at a good price, Jeff.

I too have had great service from Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct. I NEVER pay full retail for my assortment of tires (and I've got enough of them!), and these two places give you good deals. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for shipping and then you'll have to pay mount and balance, but you don't have to pay sales tax on the tires. :-)

Does TireRack offer any kind of road hazard protection plan? I know that at Discount Tire you can pay a bit extra for free repair of flats or replacement of the tire if damage is severe. Just trying to figure out where to get my BFGs when my truck comes in.

Look for a tire store with the "Hunter GSP 9700 Vibration Control System" (that's a mouthful!) when you buy new tires. It's a balancer that helps to make sure that the tire is mounted in the best position relative to the wheel to cancel out wheel and tire balance discrepancies. Four Wheeler magazine has all of their test tires and wheels balanced with this machine and swear by it. It's also great for balancing high speed tires and wheels. The best thing is that it keeps the lead wheel weights to a minimum.

Too Bad the Hunter is no where near as good at the Factory Balancers. ;(
Make sure they match mount them, tire sticker to valve stem hole.

Any of you use the balance rings? have them on my ram 8 lug and they work great. really don't realize how good they work until you take them off. put one on the drive shaft too, to smooth out vibrations

Cool

A lot of digital balancers nowadays have the capabiltity to match mount. Its where you take the imbalance of the rim and offset it with the imbalance of the tire so you have the least overall imbalance. Its something that you would have to request when you get a new tire mounted and im sure they would charge you for it.

I had to rebalance mine at 2100 miles.. had a slight vibration at 120.. havent had a chance to see if the tires took care of it yet.
