Finally installed my new water pump!
The Mezier flows 55 GPM and according to Wydopnthrtl the OEM one that I have now flows up to 200 GPM. Granted both flow rates are under optimum conditions but I could tell by looking at the impellers on both that the OEM pump flowed more.

Thats a huge differance!! Makes me want to sell mine now and switch up. Its gotta be worth some cooling power. I see your in hawwaii so it most def benifits you.

just curious, why would anyone go from a high flowing electric pump, to a stock ford pump? i thought that the electric pumps were like the best of the best? can someone help me to better understand this? im getting ready to do my new engine soon and i just want to know what to do before i go and dump 300+ dollars on an electric water pump..

I put the 04 Navi pump on my truck back in August. I changed out the Cobra pump (as called by many) that I had on for years because I noticed higher temps when monitoring with my Preditor.
I use to have an Eaton with the idle kicked up to decrease the noise when running larger lower pulleys. I installed a KB using the stock idle RPM and temps would climb higher and quicker.
The things I noticed about the Navi pump is it took longer for the temp to climb but it would climb to within 5 degrees of the Cobra pump. Once running down the road the temp would drop way faster than the Cobra pump.
The idle was in gear (like in traffic) in the hot humid Memphis summer running an electric fan. It's amazing what a difference 100-150 RPM makes with any of these pumps at idle.
The Navi pump is a good mod for appearance and function when running an electric fan.

HI!... All I know is I switched from the mechanical water pump to a electric water pump and my truck stays and runs ten times cooler with electric water pump. I gained HP and MPG over the mechanical pump. So I don't know what problems you guys are seeing but you better get them checked out because somethings not right. The electric water pump is one of the best mods I've done.
Did you take any pics of the impeller you can share? What engine rpm is that 200 GPM rating at? Two hundred gallons of water movement in a MINUTE?? That seems almost impossible.
The "cobra pump" will flow less than half that under the same condidtions. If memory serves me right it was around 65gpm...
What happens is that the inlet passages are no where near ideal. Biggest restriction coming from the block. The trucks larger impeller overcomes this to a point. That's why you see the horrible 8 blade version on the 99 L's and V10 motors. (I was against that one and was over ridden)
The cobra pump cannot and will not provide enough velocity to sweep the airation off the block & heads walls. Sure your guage on the dash shows it to be "cool". But the fluids temp is not all that a guy should be worried about.
LNTBOLT, you can remove that rubber sleeve. It was only there to protect the threads during shipping.

Rich, what rpms are the Ford pumps tested at? Looking at the 250 gallon heating oil tank here in the shop, it's amazing that it could be almost filled in one minute by something like a water pump.
For the record, I ran the 4 valve "cobra" pump in my 99 and early in my 01, and saw no adverse affects. I switched to the Meziere pump in my 01, and I never had any issues with it, or the cooling system on my truck, even at 800 rwhp. With a 160 stat, daily driving temps would just about reach 155-160, and then I was "on it", they'd only climb maybe 10-15 degrees and then come back down immediately.
I'm just trying to learn a little here, if there's a better way, I'd like to know, but I also like to know WHY it's better. You have much more knowledge on the subject Rich, that's why I value your input.
