Cowl Hood really helpful?
How much does a functional cowl induction hood really help? Specifically the Cervinis one.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,
Since it seems that I am the only one right now with the 3-inch Cowl from Cervini`s, I could probably answer this.It is a functional Cowl hood,I would think that all that extra heat that builds up under there has a chance to escape. You figure we have those huge grills on these beasts, there for the air would flow over the engine and out the Cowl. Not to mention that now I have a spot to mount a mechanical fuel pressure guage in the Cowl.I don`t believe that it adds any power, but it does let all that heat escape, and I must admit that it looks pretty damn good.Cervini`s hoods have always been top quality, yes they cost more but you get what you pay for.I also have not experienced the weight problem like some of those steel hoods out there. The stock hood supports have no problem lifting the hood.Hope this helps

Actually, cowl inductions hoods are called cowl induction for a reason. At idle or very low speed I guess the heat can escape out the cowl opening. However, at speed they rely on the high pressure zone in front of the windshield to actually force air IN through the cowl opening. And, you get a less turbulent charge (in theory) than you would with a ram air.
The cowl hood is on my buy list, but once I can afford it I'm also somewhat concerned that it looks overly agressive. How does it compare to the cobra hoods from a looks standpoint?
