The computer does not look at the A/F so much as the short and long term fuel trims if they stay at one end or the other to long that is what sets the code.Stan

RUSLOW is correct, the computer is looking at the short term and long term fuel trims as long as they do not exceed -25%to +35% short term and -35% to +35% long term for any length of time there will be no code set, it is when the computer is trying too hard to control the mixture causing high fuel trims consistantly, that a code is set.

Ok MAYBE I deserved that

We really never did unfortunately
But what I'm getting at (and I believe others are trying to say too) is sometimes the problem is NOT it's too rich, instead the problem is it's too lean and the computer is trying to compensate for it. THEN during it's normal self diagnostics checks it reads it as too rich.
There is more to our adaptive learning and self diagnostics than most realize..

BUT during the new motor build a few things were found that could answer my former probs, one was a bad wire to a Oxygen Sensor, we also changed an oxygen sensor and that harness, along with new fuel rails, a new fuel regulator and plenty of other stuff.

Good luck and please do let us all know when you figure it out.
