Body rust?

I have a 2000 f150 that is my DD. On the drivers door where the door skin is folded over the edge of the door it has rust bubbling through in dime sized areas. I have heard of this on the 2000 model and older trucks, but not 2001 and post years. Has anyone noticed any rust on any of their trucks? I am worried about one day finding it on my 2001 L.

I run a body shop, and have been dealing in auto body since I was 12 years old. Take some 5w20 motor oil, and squirt it in the holes across the bottom of the doors and don't be shy. Let the truck set out in the sun, then after a couple hours, clean up the excess oil that seeped out. Once the oil is dried, it coats the inner/outer door seam and prevents it from rust. You can also pull the plugs out of the cab corners and do the same. Rockers to... Old school bodyman trick.

Hi Guys nice to see you are all up and running after the festive binge

Here in the UK where the authorities enjoy throwing millions of tons of salt on our road each winter there is a product available called "WaxOil" which is designed just for that purpose.
You can buy it in small (about a quart) or large (about 4 1/2 quarts) you can also buy a spraying wand to reach inside your panels and box sections.

Buy the large one and a cheap garden sprayer with the pump handle on top and 3ft hose & nozzle.
Easy to use, spray into grommet holes, behind interior door panels etc etc.
This stuff dries to form a soft wax seal and it's the dogs bollox.

Another tip is the same garden sprayer can be used for filliing with de-greasing solution for cleaning engine parts and removing oil from yours mom's drive.

Product is called "Finnegans WAXOIL"

Angry Fun Ford

I am new here, so I hope I am doing this correctly. In response to the Fun Ford post of rust on the drivers door, I have a 2004 FX with only 23,000 miles. I noticed some time ago some little spots on the rear panel on passenger side right near the FX logo. It is now apparent that it is rust. There was a recall on this sometime ago and I took it in and had a pad underneath removed, to keep it from rusting. Looks like that was a waste of time. I crawled under it and it is actually rusting from underneath and has started to bubble on the paint. I took it to a dealer who talked to Ford and they said they would not stand behind it. The dealer said he would split the cost of repair with me, and my part would be $750. I sure feel like I am getting ripped. I haven't given up, but wonder how many other people have this pro blem.
