JLP Ram Air install...help, HElp, HELP!

Yes, I used the search function and didnt find any answers.

I bought a JLP ram air kit used. I have all of the pieces. However, I dont have ANY instructions whatsoever. Installing the air box, filter, sensor was pretty straight fwd. However...the air tubes, the scoop, the 90 degree elbow....I have NO IDEA where they go.

Questions:

Where does the scoop bolt under the truck? Some kind of picture would be great.

Where does the 90 degree elbow go? I originally thought that it mounted to the scoop with a screw, but now I am not sure.

Where does the long tube go?

Where does the short tube go?

Any help would GREATLY be appreciated. Id like to get this installed TODAY before it rains on me tomorrow!

Thanks in advance,

-Shane

Thanks,

That does help a little bit.

But I dont know where the long tube and the short tube go. As in...which one bolts to wear on the box and which one goes to the scoop itself.

I cant quite see where the brackets bolt to either in that picture. Thats what I am having the biggest problem with.

Okay, the flexible hose, slide that in between the plastic inner fenderwell and then clamp that part of the hose to the JLP box. Bolt the metal tube to the snorkel as shown in the pic. Clamp the flexible side of the hose to the metal tube as shown in the pic.

There should be two brackets on the snorkel. A long and a short bracket.
The long bracket connects to a bolt where the fog light is. The short bracket should mount to your heat exchanger bracket.

I think I got everything put together. I am warming it up now to take it for a test drive.

I only used the short length of hose....I didnt use the long length of hose. I dont even know what I would do with that. The scoop is mounted, then the elbow, then the short hose to the bottom of the air box. The other end of the air box goes almost into the fender. The hardest part was putting one of the bolts on the damn MAF. That sucker just did NOT want to go in!

Here goes nuthin!

oooooooooooooops

I just took the truck out for a test drive now that I have the JLP ram air kit installed. Only problem I have...A little bit of belt slip when I let out of a WOT blast. ONly when I let out though. Sounds like a bird chirping. Might not even be belt slip, might be from the air box.

The truck felt REALLY strong. I also did a boost by pass mod.

I brought it back home...and let it idle and got under the hood to make sure everything was ok. It started idling really strang. It would jump between 500 and 1000 rpms. I was like...great, what did I knock loose.

Upon further inspection (kicking myself for this) - I just....um...didnt bother to hook the MAF back up

So, I just took the truck out for a nice test drive...with a few WOT throttle blasts to 80mph....with my MAF sensor not hooked up. How brilliant am I?

I dont think I caused any damage. No lights came on. No codes flashed. I wonder what it will feel like now that the MAF is hooked back up.

I kinda did the same thing once, I forgot to tighten down the MAF tube to the elbow and took it for 20 minute ride. Everything seemed fine until I arrived at my destination and put it in PARK. It started idleing really bad, fluctuating from 500-1000rpm until finally dying. Popped the hood and found the maf tube and filter separated from the elbow. OOPS!! No lights and no damage, just a dumb mistake and a lesson learned. Good luck!!, Hope you get everything squared away!!

It's your accessoty belt slipping when the motor dramatically changes speed. You can always replace it with a Gatorback belt to alleviate the sound.
