Tire Life

Well guys, I am about to order my tires, got the credit card in my hand, I am however stuck between the F1"s and the Nitto Nt555 not the NT555r.

The nitto555 are $206 each and the F1's are $220 from DiscountTire great prices compared to where I live. I am wondering though, under "normal" driving condition which tire do you think will last longer ? I am not concerned about traction between the two. I am taking about tire life I would like to get another 18K as I got with the F1's but I am not sure if the nitto 555 is capable of that.

Let me know, want to place my order NOW, to get it here before the New Year.

Thanks guys.

I'm not sure about the nitto's, but I got 28k on my first set of F1's, including lightin' em up an *** load of times sucks Goodyear doesn't make any 315/45/18's, or anyone else for that matter

From what I've read you may have a hard time finding a new set of F1's.

Oh, I've got 28k+ miles on my original F1's, and still a few miles left.

with 496/562 rw - 12,000 on the 555r's

no track time, but aggressive street driving

They were done and I mean done at 12,000

I just put two on the rear of my '99 lets see how long these last?

D-Day

:santa:

Just got the nitto 555 great looking and so far working tire.
I too had 26K on my original F1s The nittos seem quieter over the road compared to the F1s.
I expect the same tire wear as they are traction 400 as the F1s are.
If you want higher milage you can get a higher traction rated tire.
I like them and would not hesitate to recomend them.

The Hankooks will last longer than the others around 40,000 or more miles and they are the cheaper of the bunch, around $135 average. Here is a pic with them on my L. Good luck on your choice.

Bert.

Go with the Nitto NT555's or if GoodYear fires up production again for the L size F1's replace with them. IMO Hankooks perform as good as they cost vs. the 555's and F1's. Don't care for the hard compound either

Thanks for all the response, after doing quite a bit of searching here, I went ahead and ordered the toyo proxies. Got them at tire easy for $706 for the set.

Will let you know what I think when I get them. Hope I wont be sorry.

I had Toyo's...They last along time but suck for traction.I had 295/45/20 .....I could be going around 40mph nail the gas and spin the tires. Now I went back to an 18 inch wheel so I could get the drag radials...When I am going around 40mph and nail the gas my neck snaps back and I hear a little chirp....

Ive got my mind set on some Hankook's 295/45/18s. I dont have an L, but a regular cab 04'. I just cant bring my self to spend ALOT on tires. Toyos are my next choice.. I still MAY get them, but I think I'm pretty set on the Hakooks because of the price.
