Hey guys,

Just called Galpin Ford in the San Fernando Valley. I asked how much are the 2000 L's and how big the wait list is.

The guy said that he doesn't have an exact price on them, but they should be around $34K. He then said that they sell them for $2K over the invoice. Does this seem right? I hope it is a little lower.

Has anyone bought their lightning from Galpin? They are the biggest ford dealer in the world supposdly.

I guess there are around 5 people in line for a Lightning. When they come in, you can't test drive it...what gives!?!?.

Also, he said that you can get a new chip and pulley for the supercharger and put the truck over 400HP - without voiding the warranty.

Please let me know what you think of all this.

Keep looking for another dealer.. you'll find one to do it at suggest retail price..

Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown. 99 Lightning, the best of both worlds!

 

Look up SVT dealers on Fords website and they will give you them in order of distance from your zip code. Then fax or e-mail the sales or fleet mgr. a request for pricing. I received at least 15 responses of dealers who would love to take your deposit right now at MSRP. Galpin ford is located exactly inbetween my home and work, I have purchased many fords, and have never bought one from them. They are the typical old school suede shoe bandits. Pick a smaller dealer who does not have the high profile. The closest one I know to Galpin is Star Ford in Glendale. Ask for the fleet manager, and don't let the lot salesmen get to you first, wherever you go.

 

Back2ford has a good idea. I surmise you live in the SFV if you are looking at Galpin. I think that at this stage of the game you will be damned lucky if you can find an '00 L. for MSRP in this area. I feel extremely fortunate that I was able to get my deposit down on one at sticker before all of my dealer's quota was spoke for. He told me that Galpin had a quota of maybe 30 SVT vehicles last year, and sold over 120. How? They have buyers go around and buy them up from other dealers and then sell them at a premium. I'm surprise they only tried to jack you $3000. Ford is right, they are bandits. I talked to a fleet guy at Vista Ford in Woodland Hills, and they ask $2500 over sticker, but are probably willing to let one go for $1000-$1500 over MSRP. You could also shop Metro Ford, Bob Beatty Ford, and Magic Ford, and see what they have to say. Good luck.

 

Matt, I should have read your first post more carefully. The guy at Galpin offered to sell you one for $2K over DEALER invoice? You better jump on that deal like a hot waffle, 'cause if you don't I might, just so I could turn around and sell it for a profit on eBay.

 

I am actually in Santa Barbara. I think I will hit all 5 SoCal dealers this weekend to get some more info/quotes on the Lightning. I wouldn't mine a used '99. BTW, I want BLACK...maybe Silver.

Dont buy one over sticker. Go to Peyton Cramer Ford in Torrance. Ask for Don, Mgr, they have 5 left on their allotment and will sell for sticker, no more. They are good people.

 

Well, that sounds typical of Galpin bull****. I live just down the road from you in Ventura, and I am buying mine from Barber Ford. They have been totally straight arrow with me so far, although I think they are a little sick of me coming by and asking to look at the computer printout. On your way to the others stop at Barber and talk to Stacie Dunford. I think the allotment is spoken for, but I am pretty sure they are getting one for "stock", and who knows, you might have a shot at it.

Razzari Ford in Merced, CA will sell them all day long for sticker. Last time I talked to their fleet manager who handles their SVT sales, he had a few left. It's a few hours drive to the central valley, but worth the $2,000 to $3,000 pack they are trying to stick you with. Ask for Ron, by the way, he's an ex-cop from years gone by....when men were men and everyone in the business knew what a flat sap was..............Boy, I miss those days.....................
