My project is slow, but progressing.

What started out as removing the Supercharger and associated hardware to sell and finance the Turbo build has grown to a much larger project than I intended.

Once the supercharger was removed I decided to install some Stage 2 Fox Lake Ported heads and some Comp Cams Trubo Grind cams to replace the stock heads and Crower stage 2's I have been running.

Then I felt like it would be easier to remove the engine to swap the heads since I have head studs, and I also wanted to fix a small oil leak at my rear main seal.

Once the engine was on the stand and the heads removed, I found some light scratches on 3 of my cylinder walls. So I decided to go ahead and tear down the engine and take the block to the machine shop to have it bored out to clean up the scratches.
The block was bored .020 over and I ordered new Manley Pistons and rings. The machine shop also rebalanced the entire rotating assembly to a 1 gram tolerance.

Yesterday I assembled the shortblock using new Clevite bearings and installed the Fox Lake heads that I had previously assembled a couple of weeks ago.

Also while the engine has been out, I cleaned off all the frame “goo” and repainted it a nice satin black all the way to the transmission crossmember.

I plan to do a lot of “cleaning up” in the engine compartment with regards to wiring, vacuum lines, and misc. components.
I also will be installing a lot of powder coated parts on and around the engine for a very clean and custom look once its all finished.

The engine is almost ready to be set back in, then I can start fabricating the turbo piping.

I hope to start fabricating the turbo headers right after Christmas.

My manifolds are built, all the attachments are being connected to those hopefully as I type this. The upper plenum base was finished a couple days ago, so they should start working on the rest of that if they havent already. Mine could be finished by the end of next week if everyone is motivated enough for it.

Wow, that job's a pain. Should look really nice now. How'd you get the goo off?

I dont know how far Jasper, AL is from Arkansas, but you should definitely consider the people that are building mine. Same people that built ShockTherapy's turbo setup. Since they arent an SV here, I wont say more, but if you want any info my email is matt@turbolightnings.com

My turbo is in and I'm rolling around on it.
I'm slowly fixing all the little gremlins and steadily making the truck more driveable. I still have to get my torque converter in and that should help performance. Once I get all that taken care of I'll do more WOT testing and tweaking. The only thing on the wish list is a electronic boost controller, but I have a manual one and it seems to be doing good. The little I have stepped into the throttle - like on the highway - its been impressive. I've gone 3/4 throttle but haven't put the wood down 100% until I start tuning with the mafxtender so it doesn't peg out.

Well Dad I cant stand it no more so I have to say something. I have been riding in my dad's (John Armstrong) truck as his modding has progressed from the bolt on's to the built engine to the Magnum Powers S/C. Never got to ride around in it with the Kenny Belle. He did not drive it on the street with the KB due to keeping race gas only it. Well before FFW Enis he decided to go turbo and in Enis it made its debut.

The truck has gone through alot of R & D since then, and the driveability issues have been taken care of. Christmas day I finally got to go for a ride in the new BEAST. And I do mean BEAST. The truck has good street manners and sounds like nothing I have heard. When we got onto open road and he hit the gas, all I can say is HOLY MOTHER OF ACCELERATION. This truck has NEVER pulled so hard. You turbo guys are gonna put down some awesome numbers this season and have a BLAST DOING IT. Best of luck to all.
