Post Buying a 99 Lightning

Hi all!

I have been viewing the board for about a week and have finally registered. Like many waiting for a 2000 lightning I am very excited. I live around Houston and am flying up to Portland, Oregon thursday to buy my 99' Lightning. Wanted to get some feedback on how you think I did price wise. It has all the options and only 2000 miles. I am buying it for $26250 and it will cost me $850 to ship it home. Glad to be a part of this forum!

99 L with 15000 miles is selling for 29000 in Dallas. Drove it last night. It had Chrome Rims, Sprayed in Bedliner, CD player, Trailer Package. It was White, tires were in good shape. Looks like you are getting a hell of a deal, check it for repaint.

You would have much more fun if you drove it back home, as long as you watch out for moose, not only that, you'd save more money, too. You would probably come out even, considering cost of gas to houston, and 1/2 plane ticket.

Truck is black, # 736, has 2090 miles, and has all three options (CD changer, tonneau, hitch). It has no aftermarket equipment on it.

1BADFRD, the sale price does seem low. One guy on this board had his "L" stolen recently and wrecked and I think the insurance company was going to give him $29K for it.

Is this a private sale or a dealer?

I do not know if you heard of them or not, but on the web you can go to WWW.CARFAX.COM and get a VIN check done to get an idea of the history of the vehicle. They apparently will do a free "lemon" (mfg buyback)check. And, for a rather small fee, give you a report of the VIN for any history of salvalged, junked, rebuilt, flood damaged, etc., when and where titled, title # and mileage. Of course, you need the 17 digit VIN number for the check.

I got one run free for my "L" because the local FOX TV news station was running a special deal with CARFAX on flood damaged vehicles being sold in the Wash. DC area.

1BADFRD,
FYI, if you're looking for an L closer to you, I saw an ad in Excite's classifieds for a white '99L in Cibolo (just outside of San Antonio). The ad was dated 2/12, though. It had 4k miles, and the seller wanted $27,500.

Question

Is this the one from ebay.com?
It sure looks good from the picture.I would check it out for you, but it a 3.5 drive one way from here. Ask the guy/gal if they had the fuel pumps replaced at Russ Dean Ford, Pasco, Washington. When my L came in, I saw a black L that needed the fuel pumps. It was from Portland, Oregon.
Hope it works out for you.
I'm sure they paid way over msrp for it. The svt dealers in the northwest were very hard to deal with, I had to pay $32k for mine. That was the lowest price I could find up here.
$26k is a steal, if it's the one I saw.

This is one that was on Ebay about a week a go. He closed the auction because I worked the deal with the guy offline. The one out there now is one a buddy of his is selling and it has a few more miles. I believe 5000 if I am not mistaken. About the same price.

Hey JIGAWATT,

Where did you get you Lightning from? I got mine form Bill Pierre ford. I paid $4k over sticker then proceeded to dig the hole deeper by purchasing more options. I am just curious, and if you did buy it from those guys, Where do you recommend I take it for service? I am gonna have them change my oil and do regular maintenance, since I bought it from them, and do the alignment, since my friend hit a moose. I agree, they are pretty tough to deal with. I still haven't recieived my certificate of manufacture, and I bought it in September!
