Post A Kill..

I ran an '86 Capri RS tonight, sounded pretty healthy. We went from about a 50mph roll, I hit it first and immediately had a big lead and kept pulling finally letting off about 90mph. He wanted to go again, this time around 25mph. So I man. downshifted since it won't kick down to first at that speed, we both hit it and I'm in the lead. I shift to second at around 4000rpm knowing it takes a while to upshift and I apparently caught the redline and went into the failsafe mode---NO BOOST!!! This can be VERY imbarrassing! I finally got the boost back after shutting it down, but then he turned. I'm sure I'll see him around again sometime. Maybe then I'll have the snow tires off and take him out of the hole!

Good one! Aren't those Capris cloned Mustangs? Used to be. He must have had something or he would have quit after the first spanking.

Yea, they had the same drivetrain as the Mustangs and the RS was the GT's twin.

Not a bad kill, would you recommend shifting out of first around 3500 rpms? That reminds me of a highway kill against a new ford taraus SE. I think those come with 215 hp. I know I could blow it away, but I also knew 60-65 mpg is a different story. We hit it, and I just kept walking him until I hit about 90. I did not want to blow my 31 inch winter tires, nor lose any studds. It was fun.

Not sure where to shift at, I thought it would have been ok at around 4000rpm. Maybe I was just running real quick and it didn't have time to get the message to shift at the shift point...?
