Talking L is Supposed to be on a Rail Car.....

My L is supposed to be on a Rail Car. I just hope that car is headed south. Can any of you veterans add any insight into the process once it is loaded on a train ? I have seen info about a collection yard in Kansas or somewhere.
Strange I hear this weird thumping noise .... Duh thats my heart beating faster as the anticipation builds....
Still Waiting for first posted picture of 2000 L.

Cool

Silver_2000_Soon -

My 1999.5 was delivered to an off-loading point in Midlothian, Texas (20 miles south of Dallas). I am assuming that yours will be delivered to the same place. Looks like you are going to have to change your ID.

I drive past the rail head in Midlothian on a regular basis, but I've never seen anything other than Nissan's there. If our L's are going there I'll have to start watching more closely. The last Ford I ordered was taken off the train at a rail head near Alliance Airport, north of Fort Worth. Maybe ours are on the same train?

I'll check Alliance out this weekend. You may be right. It makes more sense than Midlothian. I know that my "L" was picked up in Mesquite and delivered to Denton because I was in the parking lot of the dealership when it arrived. And no, I was not camping out, just a coincidence.

My problem is that the dealer tells me that they will call me when they know something. Well its been a month and they dont know anything yet.

I find it amazing that a multi-national company like Ford can operate on a wish and a prayer like that.

"Uh, we'll call you when it arrives on the car carrier"

Duh - Good thing I didnt want to arrange financing or sell my current vehicle in advance.....

-Its the dealers, not ford Motor company, I find even the best dealer I've seen poorly run.

Called dealer last night and asked " Hypothetically, if my truck were on a rail car when would it get here ?" Sales guy says it is not on a rail car yet and that it is still 5 weeks out at least and he would call me as soon as he knew anything.

Ironicaly I got a call today... " Good news We got the invoice from Ford... The truck is on its way ..... Should be here in 2 weeks. " I said no kidding ( trying to act surprised ) thats great news thanks.... So it is confirmed. In next couple weeks I will post pictures of the Silver L. Hope to be prowling Carrollton by 1st weekend in March.

This is a pretty funny thread, if you look at it in perspective. We have people scoping out the storage yard at the Ontario plant, and others eyeballing the railroad yards. It sounds like a vast spy network trying to steal atomic secrets or something. All I do is go and bug my dealer a couple times a week.
Ordinary folks probably think that we are insane. In a way, I guess we are, but I want my Lightning, and I want it NOW.

2000 silver SVT Lightning on order (the lawnmower will have to go).

You guys are sooo silly! The last person I saw acting like that was...well, me about 1 year ago. Seriously, I'm having flashbacks. I feel for you but also envy you. Your next Christmas is just days away!

PS Your dealer really doesn't know anything. If you ask, they'll let you be a dealer too. Also he is more concerned about all those other vehicles on the lot that people are not lining up to buy.

Cool

I saw no Lightninga at Alliance today. They were, however, off-loading other Ford trucks and Excursions at the site.

Just left Lee Jarmon. They have 1999 L with 15000 miles that they are selling for 29000. Looks like resale in Dallas is GOOD. This one has high miles for 8 months old. Got to drive it..... BIG GRINS.... HOLY COW !!! BIG GRINS... I ordered from them. They said they would call the rail head in Mesquite tomorrow to see if they can get it on its way. They also have 2 Explorer Sport tracs. Which are neat as well
