After being told the SVT on Track was by invitation from dealer only, I called my dealer and asked the sales manager "what's the deal? why did you guys leave me out?" He never even heard of the event, but he said he would ask about it and not forget me.

Today I got a call from the general manager at Fritts Ford, and he told me the event was postponed until sometime in May, and that he would make sure I WAS ON THE TEAM!! It seems they postponed SVT on Track because no one really has any new SVT product yet, which makes sense to me.

I was very happy to hear that the general manager was a big racing fan, and he told me he had raced the 99 Lightning in Vegas and was doing 150 on an oval track passing the Cobras!

He also said besides bringing my own SVT I would have the opportunity to test drive the new 2000 SVTs on the track! YEEEEAAH!

Gonna go jump for joy in the rain now

There are several guys around here who are unhappy about not getting invitations from their dealers. I am extremely fortunate in that my dealer is one of two (both owned by the same team) in the area that are sponsoring this event. I am lobbying my sales rep, the sales mgr., and the head service writer hard on all of your behalf. I hope we can get at least a couple of slots filled by ya'll.

Current information as follows (always subject to change at the whims of Ford and the dealers).

SVT On Track at Houston Raceway Park, March 25th. 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. Sponsoring dealers are Bay Area Ford in Webster (my dealer) and McCree Ford here in Houston.

They are, of course, trying to take care of thier own customers first, but may have some slots available for others. My salesman called me tonight and told me they won't know about open slots until about a week before the event. (about 7-10 days hence)

There is also an event to be held at Texas Motorplex in Ennis. It was originally scheduled to be held in May as well. the last info I have is that they have rescheduled that one for Oct., just like last year. I'm not sure who the sponsoring dealer(s) is/are in Dallas, but I'm sure in time I can find out.

There is/was supposed to be an event scheduled for San Antonio, but I haven't heard anything specific about that one yet.

Stay tuned to this bat channel for further developments.

Hey fellas,

The Enthusiast I got with my certificate has the dates of "On Track" on the back. Most of the cities are just shown what month they will be in and not an exact date yet. They will be stopping here in Memphis in July when it is about 105 degrees, oh well at least we will be able to drive our trucks and cars under controlled conditions.
