What date did you order your 2000 Lightning and what color and options?

thats it, we tried to order the soft cover, but the computer came back and said that wasn't an option, either meaning its standard or have to order deperately, probably the latter...
i also have already ordered the Roush Sport Supension, putting it on as soon as it gets here...

I ordered on 2Oct99, I was told it would be mid-March delivery. Though back then I knew as much (from reading this board) as the dealer. This was when 6Dec99 was Job1.

I ordered the one option which was available, the tonneau...but even then the dealer was asking me if it was going to slow the order down would I delete it, I said yes.

I am proud to say I paid sticker, as ordering out of state didn't seem worth the hassle. I know these guys and they told me they would give me cost on other things, like the extended warranty and any dealer type options like a SnugLid and BedRug.

And, of course, I ordered the fastest color, SILVER!

Ok, you asked the question, you get the story. Wasn't really planning to get a Lightning as I didn't think it had the towing capacity to handle my boat. On Jan.3 I got a e-mail from the boat builder which suggested that the L. might do the job after all. I was driving to Santa Cruz the next day, but I woke up early and decided I was going to buy a Lightning that day and drive it up. I called the dealer the moment he opened and asked if he had any Lightnings for sale. You can imagine the mirth with which this question was greeted. He explained that his dealership had been allocated 15 for the year, and 13 of them had already been sold. Well, I was going to drive up north and order the truck when I got back, but my trip took me right by the dealer, and a little voice said to me, "what if someone comes in and buys the last two while you are gone?" So I jumped off the freeway and went in and put a deposit down on a 2000 silver Lightning. This was on Jan.4, 2000. I received a printout showing that the order was comfirmed by FoMoCo on Jan.11 I was by the dealer today shooting the breeze with the salesman and he mentioned that the day I put my deposit down two other people came in and tried to order Lightnings, but he only had one left to sell. Was I living in luck, or what

 

Big, long, ugly story..just trying to give a dealer a GOOD check to order a Lightining. Finally ordered about 01/09/00.

Does my 'dealer' know when it will be built?, NO, do they care???.

Placed my order in early November - Received dealer comfirmation January 18 - suggested delivery late April or May - ordered everything. Confirmation said that tonneau was not available.

Paying list price here in Canada ($42,000) and feeling good to have the wildest truck ever!!!

October 14th, I think. I sold my 99GT and ordered the Red Lightning the same day. I'm in Houston but I ordered it from Bankston Ford in Dallas. Since I got the '77's tranny rebuilt, it's been so much fun. I can't imagine how much fun it would be to have the "L".

 

ordered a red lightning in late aug but dealer said window fro order had not opened to make a long story short got tired of the bs and hunted down a red 1999 and am glad i did have had for 3 months and dont have to wait any longer. Got a different story about built dates every call from starters to vendor problems, the wait will be worth it when ever they do get here. But am enjoying my 1999 right now

New guy here, pardon my butting in...

Just got off the horn with SVT and they confirm that Y2k Lightning production is to start next Monday, 31 Jan 00. Also there are no options, everything is standard including 6-disc CD changer and the tonneau cover (which is "delayed", what that means I didn't ask, Doe!). It now comes with the Expedition overhead console and the exhaust still exits at the side.

Anyway I ordered Silver last Sunday (23 Jan) and was number 8 out of 11 (meaning 3 left) at this dealer (Peyton Cramer in Torrance, CA).

Oh, yeah, and the mirrors are now body colored instead of black.
