Talking Dyno Run in AZ

Had a great day in Chandler, AZ. Running 5 L's , 2 Corvettes and a neat Cobra on a Mustang Dyno. The numbers aren't directly compatible with the other numbers posted by other Dynos but I think all of the L owners were satisfied with the figures. The numbers showed variations from about 393 crank HP to over 418. Calculations show an average of 13.4 and 102 in the quarter. For those who have actually run the quarter, the calculated numbers corresponded very well. Some of the vehicles were really tweaked more than others, (Joel and his intercooler coolers) and some of these mods made a significant difference. Every L had at least a filter kit and most had chips. Both the AirRaid and PSP filters were represented and both the SuperChip and the PSP chip were in evidence. Thanks to Don, Joel, both Petes (I couldn't say both Peters), Rick and the two Jims. If I forgot anyone I apologize. It was a fun time and Greg the Dyno guy really knows his business.

A good time was had by all. Joel (JoeLightning)has all the numbers I think, so he would be the one to ask about the runs.

Thanks guys,

Al,
Was a nice "gathering" and can't believe how nice those TRUCKS are! Ditto on the dyno results. Did a little research on the "mustang dynomometer" with the eddy current brake but still cant figure out why he has to factor to get the rated HP/Torque values? Typically in the rotating machine world, when providing power and efficiency figures, its the opposite. Claims of high efficiency are usually reduced in the real world, e.g., Eff = Pout/Pin And the "losses", ie.., core and windage usually get you.

IN our case, the data was reading LOW, not HIGH and had to be factored. ?? Anyway, the Plots were good and I was happy. Some real NICE rides, and you guys that chose BLACK have my utmost approval. Hope to run into you at SEZ one of these AM's

My thanks to Yoda for going through the tedious task of organzing this dyno run and making it happen. Job well done.

It was a pleasure meeting all the new people and seeing Yoda, Joelightning and JRW67 once again. Breakfast at the Crackel Barrel was excellent. I had a very enjoyable day. Results of the dyno run on my vette were very satisfying. I now have a very solid baseline for comparing the mods that will be performed to the vehicle.

It was amazing to see all the Lightnings at one gathering. The Lightning is truly one beautiful truck. And all of you present have done very nice add ons such as the Snuglids and Bedrugs.

The agonizing wait for me becomes even harder after seeing some real hp and torque figures right before my eyes. I am ever so patiently waiting on my 00 L.

In closing: Yoda, Joelightning, JRW67, ADP. If you all thought you're L's had impressive numbers, just you wait till I get mine. In stock form the hp and torque numbers will be higher than your's, after all RED is the fastest color, therefore it will have more power--LOL.

Rick,

I agree with you about the dyno numbers, however, with the correction factor, they seem to be very close. Even the 1/4 mile run times as calculated are within a few 10ths for those who have the real numbers. I never thought I'd say this about a Chevy but you have a beautiful Vette - and, of course, black makes all the difference.

Fly up to SEZ, I'll buy lunch.

Welcome to the board.
