Post Lightning runs terrible

Hey guys I need help. I istalled the psp filter kit and drove the truck and it ran ok the first time but the second time it was missing and the service engine light came on. THen the truck ran ok. I put in the chip and drove it and it stopped. After a couple of minutes it started. I then put in performance mode and ran the quarter. Turned a 14.04 at 104.5 on g tech. Put it back to stock mode and turned the same time. I couldnt notice any harder shifts or anything else I was expecting. The truck stopped once more so I put it away. The service engine light isnt on. The temp was 5 degrees. Man I am dissapointed in the things I did I thought would help and now I am scared to drive the thing for fear it will stop and not start! Anyone else have problems like this. My truck was turning a 13.7 at 104 before I screwed with it.

Hey Mike, Sal here. From what you have described the chip is doing, it sounds like you may have damaged a prong on the chip ribbon connector. Take it out and closely inspect the connector. If it is damaged, I can replace it for you. The chip is supposed to sit inside the PCM. You didn't remove the wrapping that was on the chip did you? That would cause all sorts of problems as well. That's about the only things I can think of. Let me know what you find....

It sounds like you inadvertantly knocked a sensor connector off. It's acting like the temp sensor (the part you install into the side of the filter tube) or the MAS isn't completely connected.

Check all of the connectors in and around the intake.

Sal,

He said it started before he installed the chip but after he installed the filter. I would assume that something as wrong as an open circuit to one of the sensors would put the map into a default region, regardless of power setting.
