Question Remote Start...what options do you guys recommend for the L?

I'm thinking of getting this for the L and/or maybe for my wife's Mitsubishi Outlander for an x-mas gift. Any suggestions?

I have a Compustar SS and works up to 6000 feet away. Nothing like getting into a warm car on a cold day after work.

my bad there sparky! you should look into the viper 591xv. It's not an alarm but a remote starter with confirmation...

My suggestion is don't. You have to bypass the passive anti-theft system (one of your keys will need to be installed in the dash, or broken apart and installed there to allow the engine to start without the key inserted). That makes it that much easier for someone to steal your ride. My alarm system came with remote start, and all the wiring is in place but I refused to let them complete the job since it would involve losing the passive anti-theft mechanism.

If you really want this, I suggest you have a good alarm to go along with it.

Just my $1.45...

Tom

I have the Viper 791XV remote start and alarm, cept the remote start doesn't work cause there aren't any IAC holes in the accufab single blade throttle body, so it won't start, but the alarm still works great

you couldn't be any further away from the truth. If you use the key module that is required for the fords, you don't bypass the pats system at all. You don't lose a key or cut up a key either. The module learns the signal from the factory key and sends that signal to the car ONLY during remote start. Not only do I have it on my L but I install them all day long too. the correct module is made by dei 555f

ps, I have an accufab on my truck and it works fine..
