Yoda,
The tech I worked with shut off the overdrive and ran up the rpm's slowly until it was just starting to bog in 3rd gear. At that point, he triggered the dyno to record and twisted her tail till she screamed. My last set of numbers came up as follows:
Avg HP: 379.5 rwhp Avg Torque: 469.8 ft-lb.
Max HP: 428.3 rwhp Max Torque: 538.6 ft-lb.
Those numbers are a bit anemic, it was a cold day and the bottle pressure was only about 650 psi. I put a pressure regulated bottle warmer on the next day. Bringing up the bottle temp really woke her up at the track. I have to go make another pull to get corrected numbers after factoring out environmental variables (i.e. the cold).

Hey Don, Sal here. The best way to dyno, is in 3rd gear, with the lock up on. That is direct drive, and the output shaft of the trans is spinning at the same rate as the flywheel. What you really need to do, is get the truck to about 60-70 in 3rd and then go WOT. The problem with this is that it will downshift to 2nd. When I dyno, I reset the chip so that it won't downshift on the dyno, but that's just something I can do. Most guys will start WOT in second, and let it shift into 3rd, which is acceptable.
