Phatt Lightning Wheels
Well!
I just finished working on my Lightning wheels and the next step is to send them to the chrome plater. The weld on the the backside of the wheel has been dressed and once it is polished and chrome plated you will never tell. Can you say 315X18 or maybe even 335x18. How is that for rubber.
I have a photo album at zing.com detailing the process and if anyone is interested I can provide a name and phone #.

Looks like a great job! Just curious, how long did it take to do from start to finish?
BTW, can't wait to see the finished BOLT, any time frame?

Good morning PFA!
I just spend the last two day hand sanding the back side of the wheels. I purchased two new wheels right before Christmas but they did not start on them until the 2nd week in January. So lets say about a little over two weeks. Really not to bad, nothing goes fast any more. Hey just think, it will take about 6 to 8 weeks to get them chrome plated. A few week back I posted the cross drilled rotors and I hope to have the calipers done in about two weeks too. It will be the only Lightning calipers with the name Lightning and the Lightning bolt milled in stainless steel and actually part of the caliper assy. One other feature braided stainless brake lines for the Lightning. These have been fun too. Hope to have most of this stuff installed for spring. Many other features too just have not listed them yet.
PS. I failed to mention that the name Lightning and the Bolt will be polished and the rest of the caliper will be powder coated red and smooth too.

With the stock wheel and tire in place the clearance from tire sidewall to the inner bed panel is approx. 2" . It will vary from side to side and could also vary from truck to truck. So if you do this you should check your truck. I widened my wheels to 10.5" and this should leave me with 1" of approx. clearance. Also I do not like to use wheel spacers so I felt that this would be the maximum I would want to go. The 10.5" wheel can be fitted with a 18x315x40 with no problem. As for the calipers they are the stock Lightning items (purchased new, cast iron and they weigh a ton) that I have reworked. You can check out the photos at Zing.com by going to my web site http://mikesmotorsport.virtualave.net
If you have any questions drop me a line.
