Question Option 428 - High Altitude Principal Use?

I am getting close to ordering a 2000. The dealer I am talking to highly reccomended that I order option 428, High Altitude Principal Use. What is this? I live in Tucson and the altitude is about 2500 ft. Do I need this, will it affect performance?

I'm bringing this back out of the depths.

Christy Ann, did you get this option on your L?

Yoda, and other fellow Arizonans, is this on your L?

It's part of my order...

Before now I was not even aware there was such an option. I'll have to look into it tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Thumbs down

The dealer MIGHT trying to hose you. I bought my L in Cheyenne (elev. 6000') and I just looked at my window sticker. Under the optional equipment list, I have "high altitude principal use -- NO CHARGE". However this may be required by the state or fed at this elevation.

There is no charge for this option but the dealer was adamant about making sure it was on the order. I'll check more and see if it actually is ON the order...

Bobb
Just talked to my dealership and they told me that it is a dealer installation and there was no charge on the sticker for it. He wasn't sure whether or not it was added into my Colorado adjustment *which I didn't pay anyway* but my truck is equipped and just as suspected it's for oxygen/fuel ration control. Huh, go figure. hehe He did recommend for AZ.

Question

OK what's this all about. I live in Calgary, Alberta. 4500' ASL how can I tell if mine is equiped with this High altitude principal use? When I drive up to our Hang Gliding launch areas I can be as high as 10,000 ASL.
Thanx,
Bruce

No prob Bob hehe I bet Sal sure would know. From what I understand it is a number of different parts. Including something on the intake and a sensor. Like I said its for the oxygen fuel ratio and at sea level it is supposed to drop up to 2/10ths in a 1/4. It is required in Denver. If you want to know if you have the option you can contact SVT with your VIN and they should be able to tell you. Must be based on allocation to some extent.

Question

I asked my dealer and did not get an answer.

We need to see if Sal knows about this since he knows everything! :-)

Hey Guys

Has anyone found any more info on the option? Does it hurt performance. If so can we change it?
Thanks
Dennis
