Locking lug nuts
As a long time reader, I can remember when members were curious as to why our wheels don't have any locking lugs on them..
Some other members said to get hold of McGard and get them from there, as there is no other
place to get them...
Went to the local speed shop today and talked to the guys there and they called McGard and the rep told him that the only locking lugs available where yellow in color and were meant for behind hub cap format only...
I am confused (nothing unusual)...any help would be appreciated....
Also would like to get hold of as much literature as possible on our trucks...am creating a shrine..like who hasn't...am also still waiting for owners certificate
As i said before, any help would be appreciated

I checked out McGard's web site but they don't have any kind of application guide that I can see (another poorly designed site), so I sent them an e-mail requesting info. If I find anything out I will post it.
I went through the same stuff for a wheel lock. McGard said that the Ford F-150 wheel nuts are one of a kind and no one will tool up for them. However, they make the F-150, black oxide, built-in flat washer type locks that are made for behind a hub cap. I purchased these from my local Ford Dealer. They are a regular stocked item or can be ordered. They don't look that bad because our rims have a deep recessed nut. I'm sure they look better than the cinder blocks that will be holding up your Bolt when the first jerk with a 150 wants your nice rims that bolt right on.
Say what? That logic is just freakin' incomprehensible (not to mention hard to understand). I mean, isn't the F-150 just about the most popular vehicle made? Doesn't Ford sell Billions and Billions of them every year? I mean, I don't think we are tooling up for nuclear reactors or space shuttles, either. How many do you have to sell before you make a profit? We pay premium prices for a premium vehicle; I bet most of us would glady pay a premium to keep it safe. Sheeesh!
Guys! Guys!

Gorilla also makes a chrome set, 20 in all. This is what I bought back in June of 99 right after picking up my truck and they made me a set since there wasn't any available at the time for the new metric lugs on the "L"'s. I don't have the part number with me but it was posted back then.
Available through any Discount Tire Dealer, or auto parts store that handles Gorilla's.

See:https://www.f150online.com/f150board/Forum36/HTML/000099.html for McGards part #. I have since painted mine with "Chrome" paint.
They are not noticable unless you're looking for them.

Michael L. Cid at McGard e-mailed me and said that a lock set for the Lightning will be available sometime early spring. It will only be sold through Ford dealers, and pricing will be determined by the dealer.
Blackbolt, rapidRandy is correct.
The 12/98 1999 F-150 Lightning one page brochure from Ford says the following concerning locking lug nuts under the caption "WHEELS":
18 x 9.5 in., five-spoke cast aluminum-alloy, painted surface, locking lug nuts.
Therefore, the locking lug nuts should be standard equipment. They are not listed as option.
I have these on my truck. They look like regular chrome lugs but have an irregular lug pattern. You should have a lug wrench under the passengaer seat that has a matching pattern because the lug wrench serves as the key to the locking lug nuts.
I personally do not like this arrangement too much because there is only one "key", the lug wrench. And, someone may break into the truck for the lug wrench in order to get at the wheels. However, even with non-OEM locks, they still may break in because they do not know the difference.
