Question Everyone's Favorite Subject - Paying for the toy

Unless you're in a position to pay cash, those us eagerly awaiting our 2000 L's are also racing againt the potential Fed action of raising interest rates before the end of the quarter. I mentioned this to a friend who said it's too bad you can't lock in an interest rate on a car loan like you can on a home mortgage. His comment made me wonder, so I contacted a local credit union. They pre approved my loan application, offered 6.9% fixed APR on a 60 month note, and said they'd guarantee me that rate until my L arrived. Has anyone found any better interest rates at present?

City Employee's Credit Union. If you're a member, or eligible for membership, I spoke to Lorraine Cody in the Ferguson Road office (972) 735-3670.
