Question Fog Light Install

hey guys, I'm pretty sure I have seen on here where people have said that updating the 2000 foglights to the newer one's is a pain in the *** but has anyone done it with success and do you have advice or suggestions on how to do it? I have changed my lights out all the way around the truck and the only thing thats left is the fogs....the 2000 fogs DO NOT look good with the clear headlights and corners! Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks

Well I don't know the answer to your question, but I do have a question for you. What brand headlights and tailights did you use for your truck? I am doing the same thing as you are and have found some "Blue oval Ind." lights. Are they good? What did you use?

You need to get the newer front bumper, 01-04.

You CAN"T do it with the older one without major mods.

OK, but can you tell me why they won't work? Are they bigger, do they mount differently or what? Depending on what the mods are I might be willing to do it before I go spend a $1K on a bumper just to replace my $60 fog lights.
Does anybody else have any input or suggestions or know of any othe rbrand of fog lights that I might could use that will fit and matches the new style headlights decently? The headlights I bought came off of ebay and they were made by TYC, they are exactly like the new stock ones and seem to be good quality, I am very happy with them,,,,they just don't match my fogs now! Paid $200 for headlights and corners.

Does anyone have a new style forlight that is cracked but still working that they might be willing to send me? Want to see what is needed to adapt it without going out and spending money for a new one. Thanks.

The difference in the early and later model fog lights is the mounting. I went through plenty of the early models with my truck and have finally installed aftermarket lights which I have not had any problems with.

They are Pilot fog lights and I got them at Advance. They actually have a colored glow ring (Angle Eye wanna-a-be), however, they looked ricey so I disconnected those and use only the fogs. Lenses are clear and they put out a good bright light. Running Silverstar H3's in them and have not had any problems with cracking, even in the rain.

Here they are at Autozone:

Their description says 5-1/8", but they are 4" round fogs. I can verify that part # tonight just in case.

How is the mounting with the 00 bumper, any modifications or tricks or is it fairly straight forward?

Yeah, thought about that yesterday afternoon. With a 2000 bumper cover, I believe the foglight "hole" is closed in the back (I had a 2000 previously, but wife got in accident last Christmas and I had a 2001 cover installed this year). If it is closed, then you should be able to bolt the fogs to the back of the hole. The only other thing I had to do was to shorten the fog light bracket arms to pull the fogs further into the hole so you couldn't see behind them. Took me an afternoon to complete after figuring out how to make them fit. The fog light is 4" and the bracket is actually a little more narrow than that because it attaches behind the lens.

Hope this helps!!
