running nitrous line question
running nitrous line question
For months I have been trying to decide (not sure why it is taking me so long) on which car to put my NX kit in. Well last night around 11:45pm after laying in bed for an hour and not being able to fall asleep, I decided to get up and head to the garage and start playing with my truck. Damn my truck in loud in my garage, neighbors must have loved me pulling my truck up on ramps(took 3 atempts, they kept sliding on the floor) at midnight. So jacked my rear up too, and finally installed my PSP drive shaft loop that I bought in May. Then I started to map out my NX kit install.
My question is where is the best place to run the lines. I did a search but there is 600 post about nitrous to go through. Coming from a 4banger on nitrous, I just ran the line through the interior of the car through the firewall.
I am guessing I should run it along the fuel line, but where do you run it once you get to the motor, from the bottom to the top? I was hard to tell if it would be hitting any hot parts if I bring it up that way.
Hurry up and answer so I can delete this post before Josh(blwn5pnt4) sees it. Want it to be a surprise next time I run into him on the street .

I went in the bed and down the frame rail. The tech at our track wants it outside the cab.

where did you bring the line up from the rail?
Do you think you could hide all the selenoids under the vent covers?

It would be tight but both could fit.

WTF? I don't get it. (but I've had a few beers already, so I may be slow) I understand its better outside the cab....but how can they say thay, when ever CAR has the bottle "in the cab?"
HAHA Tom.....u still got no chance bro....lol.....as for the install, I installed the bottle in the bed of the truck, and ran a line under the bedrug, thru the plastic pop out, down under the cab along the frame rail and then back up in the engine bay.....

that is what i am trying to determine. then best spot to bring it back up into the engine bay.

You dont want to run the lines until you first decide where the Nozzle and Solenoids are going? Once you decide that, then you can find and decide on the best path for the feed line.
On Josh's above (we installed that at my house) we did something diff and put the Fuel Solenoid on the Pass side by the fuel rail, and the n20 and purge Solenoid on the Drivers Side.
In either case and in also Both cases of my last two kits on the Lightning,
bringing the n20 feed line up there was (and is usually) the most logical way,
AND NO THERE IS NOTHING HOT IN IT'S WAY.
AS you'll see here on my old Zex Kit (and the temp location of the RT Kit),
it just makes sence. AND that spot on the fire wall is just begging to have the Solenoids installed on it.

As you see you kind of route it over or under the Brake Booster and Master Cylinder,

and Down through the Wheel Well just as you said next to the Fuel Line.

(my n20 line is inside the black loom)
You then follow the path (I choice outside the Chassis) sorry no pic's,
and I drilled a series of little holes (where ever needed) and tied it up.
Here you'll see where I entered the Truck Bed

Right at the Rear Wheel Well,

I happen to like where mine comes in because I can keep it 100% protected and hidden when not being used

Well I guess I am doing it a little back words. I ran the line first. I ran it along the fuel line, down behind the engine, over the tranny and then to the frame rail. I have not secured the line yet as I left a bunch of slack because I do not know where I am going to put the solenoids. I really want to try and make it as stealth as possible. I am thinking I am going to try and hide all of them in the wiper cowl, or make some kind of small box to hide them.
