BTW Jerry, I am sorry you have to go through the agony of watching for the UPS man every day. I had my stuff two days after my telephone conversation with Roger Lemere. I would have ordered the same setup as you, but no one was answering phones or emails at the time, and I am not a patient man. Hope it comes soon. It makes such an incredible difference that I cannot even imagine having to run stock - it would be depressing in comparison.

Tom: Be sure to post your time, or please email with your results - I can't wait to hear how you do. Tonight would have been great, that SC would have loved sucking that thick, cold air!

Boy, I wouldn't be doing business with that place anymore, my understanding from Roger was that the list price was $250, but Roger has a special going as a kick off of a new product.

Spider, I'm not a patient man either, so you know how bad it hurts to read all the post about how much better our trucks run with the mods. I might be wrong but I bet nobody on this board has waited as long as I have. And I have not been given an E.T.A. yet!
On a happer note, do you just jump out of planes, or do you still fly?

I have Sal's filter and waited 5 weeks for it. At the time, there were no other options. If you can stand waiting, Sal's kit will save you about 30 bucks over the airraid. If time is of value, sal's filter probably isnt the best bet.
On the plus side, the quality of the filter from sal is really quite good and you are unlikely to run into fit issues that some have experienced with the airraid.

Nathan, Sat. will be six weeks. I know it will be a quality product, but there is no reason to take this long. I'm in the precision sheet metal business and to get good prices on any custom fabracated product you have to buy in quantity. From what I have read Sal has them made in batches of 15 or twenty.

Cool

Guys,
Let me tell you this:
Sal's filter setup fits perfectly.
Every bolt, spacer and nut looks like it was designed by ford.
I know we get impatient and I really have no opinion about the AirRaid box, but Sal's system is worth waiting for.
Just remrmber to mount the filter and outer cover (required, in my opinion) on the pipe BEFORE you hook everything up.
When I finally clean my engine I'll send a picture with the outer cover on. It's trick! In the mean time, it's worth the wait.

adp

Jerry:

I just jump out of them these days. My theory is, "Why fly a perfectly good airplane when you can jump out of it? I'm VP-Sales of a simulator training company so I get lots of exposure to that world, but have had no desire to fly since Eastern folded out from under me in '91. I did fly a Pilatus PC12 to Key West a couple of years ago, but that was my last stint at the controls. I did have the joy of flying a Ford Trimotor, and then jumping out of it - that was a gas!

Spider, you jump I'll fly the plane. What did you learn to fly in? I learned in a 11AC, 7AC, and C-150. The first two without electrical systems (hand prop) or radio. I was thirty seven before I got to learn. Have you noticed how many pilots have similar interest; most with a bad need for speed! Sorry guys for the off the subject post.

Hey Jerry:

I learned in a Cherokee 140, and was an airline pilot 11 months after my first lesson with only 226 hours (over 15,000 now). It is true about pilot interests - that was one of the points of the psychological tests used by airlines. Part of the effort was to assure compatability in the event of total strangers being on the same crew. I was always amazed that we seemed to have similar hobbies, and interests (chasing flight attendants, etc). If you ever get to Orlando, you will have to visit with me at Simcom and fly one of our many simulators.
