You can get the 4.10's just about any Speed Shop. The Dealer will even install the gear for you. As far as the Speedo fix.

Install a 23 tooth tranny gear. Approx. $15.00

Hope this helps.....

Question

SCOTTODOG... or anyone
Have you done this yet? Does the (what must be insane) bottom-end outweigh the loss of top-end? How much $$, etc.
Thanks in advance,

Someone stated before that the 4:10 out of the Expedition is cheaper to install and the programming for the speedo is in a past post also.

Thats quite a high price for a gear set! You can install the gear w/o any problems...as for the speedo, you can go to the dealer and request for them to reprogram the GEM module for the correct gear set and tire size you have by using a New Generation Star tester, thats only if they will do it for you. You can also have this fixed via a chip...I believe Sal can fix this, im sure Superchips could also.

I would like to know what kind of 1/8 and 1/4 mile times gain i would see out of just the 4.10 or 3.73 gear change.

My experience with gears!

My 95 Z28 came with 2.73 gears. I put just about every bolt-on product on it! On the highway I would spank most everyone (normally asparated!).....I went to a 3.73, the bottom end was FREAKING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The top end, still exciting but good enough to drag from 60 MPH with even a new Stang GT!
My 0-60 went from about 5.2 to about 4.2 on average which is where MOST street drags occur! My 1/4's went from 13.6/s to 13.1 - 13.3's......It was worth it, but get a reputable person to install them, I had wine problems!

Question

I am currently curious about installing a set of 4:10's, but need a little info/advice.

1: Where can I get the best deal on a set?

2: I have never done a gear swap, but a friend said he would show me, and also work with me on this project. What exactly will I need?

I thank all of you for your attention on this one!

Cool

Rand -

Hope you got over your wine problems. You really shouldn't be driving until that is taken care of. Right BBQ?

Unhappy

Normally during my "wine times" i let my mechanic handle everything from gear swaps to filling the tank with gas, but since this is a z-28 your talking about, i say go for it!!
