Post help in finding the RIGHT bed liner, please!!

i have the factory toneau cover as the only
protection for my bed. i'm sure i'll change
that somewhere down the road. 1st, i need to protect my bed because i do transport things
for my business from time to time.i don't
want a plastic liner and i'm not sure about
the spray in type. kind of scares me due to
its permanant nature. what about this bed rug
i keep hearing about. is it hard to keep clean? is moisture bad for it? does it discolor? how about colors? please give me
the complete low down. if you have any other
liner suggestions please fire away. thanks
inadvance for the help!!

I have a spray in liner on mine and it has been great. I think the spray-in type is superior to the bedrug if you are carrying heavy cargo that might snag on the rug. But, if you use your bed like an oversize trunk, the bedrug is probably the way to go.

Freak,

The bedrug is closed cell foam covered with monofilament carpet fiber. What that means is, it won't absorb anything. I have spilled oil, grease, rust, and other nastiness (including fish guts) and a little 409, some water, and some elbow grease, and it always looks as good as new.

Go check out www.bedrug.com

Freak, I agree with Chuck, you can't beat it for clean up or looks! Most of the clean up is w/a vac. I have hauled some equiptment that had sharp edges and used cardboard or some plywood.

To keep the looks of your truck, the Bed Rug is the way to go. When I raise the lid of my Snug Top anywhere, a crowd forms. (Aint it great?) I don't know about the spray on liner but I had a hard liner in my '97 F-150 and it warped, made noise and rubbed the paint off the bed in spots. (It was a genuine Ford product, too.)

Good luck!

For the money the FORD (Duraliner) can't be beat. $150. Top it off with a cover like the Snuglid, ARE, etc. and you're set. Just my humble opinion

I have a sprayed on liner for permatex and it is great they even matched the color of the truck perfectly. It is very durable and is easy to clean. It doesn't trap any water or chafe and where out the paint. It is a little tacky so it helps to prevent stuff in the bed from sliding around. If you want heavy things to slide in and out easily maybe it's not right for you. The liner actually has a wet look to it, which I love.

Question

Aaron B,

Does your liner feel more like sandpaper, or is it rubbery? My brother had one sprayed into the back of his. It's great. Can't scratch it with anything. It has a sandpaper feel to it. Think I'd like one but wasn't sure of the name. My brother isn't sure.

I have a Line-X which is like a hard rubber or soft plastic, though it doesnt scratch. Its not abrasive like a sandpaper but it does keep things from sliding around. I hear that the Rhino-linings are softer and more rubbery feeling.

Thumbs up

Aaron,

I agree with alpha - nice website. Great looking Ty too. I owned a Syclone for 6 years. Great trucks (if a little fragile).

Regards,
Mike

Cool

Thanks for the link, Aaron. You have done a great job on your web site. I think it is worth a visit by all Lightning owners or would-be Lightning owners.

Rubbery, I like that better than the sandpaper stuff because it will not scratch anything you put in the bed.
