Do I need a new filter and fluid if I do it myself?

Thanks for your expert opinion ...

Cliff, I would change the filter and fluid at the same time. While your in there, there is no reason not to. You can handle it. Glad I could help you out. -Mat-

Thanks to you, I asked them to check the fuse and it was indeed blown.
Only cost $102 for a 2.47 item ... They dropped the pan to check everything.

HaHaHa! I had assumed this would be the first thing the dealer would look for, that is why I never suggested it to you. But seriously your truck was "broken" for days and the dealer never checked your fuses>??? That is great.
Glad it was only that. You better check your wiring underneath because there is a good chance something is touching and you will be experiencing this again. -Mat-

We get trucks that have been to the dealer for no light or brake control, that the dealer can't fix. They have a blown fuse most of the time.

That's just wrong. The tech was too stupid to check the fuse first; so, he charges you for the time he wasted. I hope you at least commented on this before breaking out the credit card. Ouch!

Indeed, this is great news buddy. Carl Childers would have known to check the fuses first. I'm just sorry that I didn't have Carl's simple approach technique. This is a good lesson learned by all of us.

Happy Thanksgiving!
