Jigawatt
Jigawatt I see you have an Aim 2 inch drop shackle. Is that a true 2 inch drop? Does it level out the Lightning and do you have any pictures? Does the Lightning already have some sort of drop to the rear or is the shackle mount the same as a regular f-150? Thanks Scott

Scottodog; The Lightning is already lower than a regular F-150 by about 2". I bought a 2" lowering shackle and cut it so it was 2" longer than the stock "L" shackle. This lowered the rear about 1 7/8" total. The truck kept a little rake to it, "higher in back than front" which kept the bottom line looking level.

There may be a better way to do it now but non at the time I did mine.

Scottodog:
The AIM drop shackle has two spots. A 1.5 and 2 inch mounting spot. I first tried the 1.5, but this left the rear up. At 2 inch, on flat ground, the L sits level. This is the look I was after. I also have removed the hitch. I don't plan on ever towing with this truck. Sorry, I don't have a scanner, but you can see it in Truckin magazine March 2000 issue on page 153. The picture only shows one hole, but when mine came there was two. I didn't order anything special, it just came that way. So if you want both, you might ask the sales guy if it has two. The factory drop is in the leaf springs itself. The factory L shackle is just standard F-150 stuff. They run $44.99. There number is 1800-289-9980 in Arizona. They also show a web site www.truckn.com

Sorry that was unclear on the hitch. With the hitch on looking from the back, it made an illusion that it was sitting low in the back. This is just my opinion, of course. The answer to your question, is no. The hitch does not have to be removed. I did not weigh the thing, but might shed some light on why my L weighs in at only 4380 pounds. I was looking at a past post where others were discusing the weight, and mine was a lot lower (some were around 4700+lbs). I know my hitch doesn't weigh that much, I carried it by hand????

Back on page 2 under (want to know what an L weighs) some have spray in liners, tools, etc... Mine was with 1/8 tank of gas, removed hitch and stock. I have no tonneau cover. I weighed myself first, it showed 180 and I weigh 183-185, so I thought it was accurate, but it could be off toward the upper end. However, I don't think the scale was off because it is Lampsons Crane Operation--they are a world wide crane builder and it was a digital scale. I'd hope for their sake that it would be accurate.

Hey Jigawatt,
I finally stopped lurking and got to typing. I have a two inch shakle drop that I hope to put on this weekend, if the rains stops. Thanks for all your help in the past and I hope you gained 10 lbs. with that King Cake after making you,"Lurking comment"
I also found someone making mats with the lightning logo on them. When they get in I will post and let everyone know what they look like.
The Transgo Kit is also in the mail.
Thanks again for taking me under your wing!
