Servicing! How Often?

Hi all,

My Lightning now has 3100 miles on it. I have phoned 2 different UK companies who both service Lightnings to ask how often these things should be serviced.

One said every 3000 miles (I don't believe that one!). The other said every 5000 (Still sounds low to me, its an unstressed truck engine!!).

Whats the truth and

What do Ford themselves recommend?

When I had my lightning, I changed my oil every 2,500-3,000 miles. I would not go more than 5000 though!

I don't know what ford says, BUt I change my oil and filter every 3000 miles.
The Airfilter is cleaned whenever it looks dirty (aftermarket air cleaner). I use Mobil 1 oil. I could go longer between oil changes, but I'm a maintance freak.

I'd change it every 3000 and change the fuel filter every 6000, or every other oil change.

PS - My chevy driving girlfriend laughed when she saw this btw.

Ford recommends every 5000 for "normal" driving. That's what I do and also change the fuel filter every 10,000 miles.

I now change my oil when my tires go bald. That's about 3000 miles.

...Change oil every 3000 miles with regular oil, and every 5000 miles when using synthetic. Got over 200,000 miles out of my 5.0 Mustang this way, and beat her up EVERY weekend!! ...pulled the valve covers at 150,000 miles and everything looked NEW.

Up here the most popular and certainly the most experienced is Bauer Millet in Manchester. They have been doing American imports for a hell of a long time.

There are a few others near but I wouldn't touch any of them.
