I had something like that. My problem was more of a slight hesitation. It only did it once and a while. It went away or I dont notice it any more. Scott

Hmmm..

I think I know what you are talking about.. my 99 bucks a little bit when driving on the highway, but I have a feeling it has to do with the locking and un-locking of the torque converter.. I do not know what speed the converter locks at but.. it may coincide with the bucking you feel.. If you are cruising and you hit the brake pedal the converter unlocks.. this may be what you feel..

Just a thought..

I did notice my bucking when the overdrive button was out. You could be right with the converter lockup. Scott

I hope this isn't the problem but Ford has a history of problems with the A4OD and the torque converters.

I had a '97 T-Bird that would feel like you were running over rumble strips on a perfectly smooth road. After a little research I discovered a service advisory that details the problem. It seems the trans fluid they used on the A4OD would deteriorate over time and cause the torque converter to spontaniously lock and unlock. The solution was a change of fluid types after a complete system flush. The older fluid would varnish up the torque converter causing the slippage.

I was told the problem was solved in mid 98. It affected the T-Bird and Crown Vic. I never saw any mention of the F-150 having this problem but then again, few of them are subject to the abuse we put ours through.

Rusty,

One additional thing to rule out: Try running your Superchip in the "stock" position for awhile and see if that makes a difference. Sometimes the chip (regardless of brand) can induce a "bump" at lower speeds.

Rusty:

I know we are all sort of hunting here, but I run/have run both chips. As soon as we got the winter gas formula in Ga., I noticed what I call surging at that speed in OD mode with the Superchip. I eventually had to switch to normal mode on the chip.
Got the PSP chip, and as soon as it got pretty well into it's learning curve with the computer, it started the same thing. I now run that chip in normal as well.

I hope Mike or Sal read this thread to offer input. Doesn't seem to hurt anything, but it is annoying. PS, the main reason I switched off both chips was detonation with winter gas. The surging was just another annoyance.

The problem the Crown Vics had was a faulty torque converter, changing the fluid was only a temp fix. Ford has fixed the converter problem.
