My First time posting. Just curious to see how many lightning owners are in Austin. My guess is at least 20 because thats all that were sold here, I think. 10 at Covert, 10 at Leif-Johnson? Any way, just curious because I see a few now and then.

I'm buying one of Leif Johnson 10 Lightning for 2000. Live in CC TX. By the way, is Covert still a SVT dealer? His name was not on the list I got from SVT. Thanks

'00BlackLightning, when I went by Covert in December, they were still an SVT dealer. If you don't mind me askin', what kinda deal did LJF offer ya? When I went by there, they wanted MSRP + $5K. Yikes!

Caka, if everything goes as planned, I'll be drivin' around Austin w/ my '00L come March. If you see a white '00L in the Arboretum area, feel free to say hey. I've seen one of each color roaming the Austin area but haven't had the opportunity to BS w/ any of 'em.

I live in Houston, but spend most of my weekends in Austin. Brother lives off of Mopac and 2222, so I am usually in that area (and of course 6th St.)

I'm having to pay $2000 over list. I did get an excellent deal on the 2000 Contour I bought there. It was $800 dollars lower than I could find here. This was after 5 minutes on the phone. Even so, I know they're making a big profit on the Lightnings. What kind of deal did you get at Covert?

I didn't order my L thru any TX dealer. Draeger Motors in Georgetown offered MSRP but wanted a $1500 non-refundable deposit -
a little too steep for a deposit. Plus, I didn't want to spend MSRP; never have, never will. So, I'm going to Birmingham, AL to pick up my L.

What kind of deal did you get in Birmingham, Al. if you don't mind me asking. I have a deposit on a Black 00 L at one dealer for MSRP and I have another dealer willing to sell me one for $30995.

I have a black 99. I live in San Antonio and when I bought mine the SVT dealer in SA was sold out. The dealers in Houston and Austin were charging 2-8K over sticker. If you dont mind driving 4 hours to Dallas, you can get them for sticker at Bankston Ford in Frisco (at least I did).

I ordered mine for $28528; I'm not sure if they'll sell another at that price, though. The San Antonio dealer said I could order one for $28590, but I'd be the 5th on the waiting list since, as Nathan mentioned, they had already sold their 1st allotment. It was a no-brainer since I didn't want to wait.

He was very helpful, up to the point where he said I'd be 14th on the list for the 9 that were due in.

 

Me again, I have seen a white lightning several times at 2222 and 360, in the morning around 9:15 and also about 5:30 or 6:00. I'm a U.P.S. driver and am in that area at those times. I tried to yell at him and tell him I had one exactly like him but couldn't get his attention. Anyway, I got my Lightning at Covert. It was traded in on a car, seems the guy that owned it just bought a house and couldn't afford the truck payments. It was only on the lot for one when I accidently ran accross it, so I bought it immediatly. I was actually on a waiting list at Covert for the 2000 models and they said there was gonna be a $2500 mark up over sticker. I gladly paid $28,000.00 for mine with 9000 miles. Buy the way I am in the Parmer-Metric area of Austin.
