Jeff: Hey, I like the new message board on your NLOC site and I hope the 1st gen lightning page catches on. Anyhow, i just recieved a set of 4.56 gears for my truck and was wondering if you had this mod on yours or if you had any thoughts on what the difference would be?...I'm hoping not to rev too high on the freeway, but I can sacrifice that if I get some serious acceleration off the line..any tips before putting them in?..thanx
Oh..i'll post this on your list too.

Depends on how much highway driving you do... What I did in lieu of a gear change was run shorter drag tires at the track (until I reached the point that I needed more gear at the big end). This gave me the gearing increase when I wanted it but left me stock for the highway driving (which I do a LOT of).
If you've never done a gearset before, I'd recommend having a shop install them while you watch. The install itself isn't complicated (you'll probably need air to get the ring gear off of the carrier, though) but setting the pinion angle and depth can be and isn't something you want to tackle (in my opinion) without the guidance of someone very familiar with the process. These pieces take a lot of stress and not having everything just right can leave you stranded.
