Talking My Ford Dealer & the Superchip

Well, during the process of taking my Dealer's shop foreman for a ride to try and diagnosed my whining/high pressure air sound, we had a discussion about the Superchip and warranties. They are not the least bit worried about the chips. He said they would have to prove it caused a problem, and in his words, that's almost impossible to prove. In fact, they work on a F150 with a Paxton Blower on it and still warranty the veh.

GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!

Hopefully that crazy sound is indeed some sort of vacuum problem and we can track it down. Anybody had any such problem out there? It's a really annoying sound.

Im a drivability tech. at a Ford dealer and I have pulled in many vehicles w/ various syptoms from no start, poor performance, as well as just a check engine light on, P0605 code. Every time this code is pulled from the pcm, the first thing I do is look at the pcm to see if it has a chip installed. Always there is a chip installed and every time its a different brand, no super chips yet. Every vehicle that has had a chip has either damaged the pcm due to the chip or the customer installing it. The bad thing about this is that I have to call Ford for authorization to replace the pcm as well as tell ford every pin point test I performed to lead up to a faulty pcm. On top of this I have to send the part back under warranty and you can visually tell weather a chip has been installed or not. The first vehicle I encoutered w/ a chip damaging the pcm w/ code P0605 I warrantied the pcm. Since then I've worked on 3 other vehicles w/ same concern and my new shop foreman...gung hoe *** hole...looks at every processor I change out and if it looks to have had a chip he voids thier powertrain warranty! So, when I recieved my Super chips, I installed it at work right in front of his face! ha

Ha, Mr Gung Ho is going to get his head handed to him one of these days, voiding powertrain warranties like that. So, Stang58,you are not worried about the superchip damaging you PCM? I could see where that might be an issue, if the PCM itself had a problem caused by the superchip, but voiding the entire power train? I can't imagine Ford getting away with that.

Stang58, what's your email address?

Sorry guys about my incomplete explination earlier. When I stated that he voids thier powertrain warranty, he voids the warranty w/ our dealership. If he has a power train problem and brings it to us, he pays for it. If the customer takes it to a dealer other than us, its their descression of weather to fix it under warranty or not. Im not worried about my Superchips messing up my pcm because Ive never repaired a vehicle w/ that particular chip installed. Also I really feel that its the customer's fault durring the installation.
