Exclamation Finally decided to post race

Last fri morning on my way to work, i happened to have a run with a black late model supra 94?-97. We hit it on the freeway already going about 65mph, he had an open lane & gunned it b4 i knew he had gotten on it. I floored it & just kinda hung with him. It was hard to tell if he was pullin away or I was staying even cuz he had the jump. All I can say is that it had one HUGE exhaust stickin out the back. I never did get the chance to see it it was a turbo version (by the way we were going I assumed it was) so I cant report 4 sure on that. It was fun though, I think we musta hit close to 90-100 didnt get a chance to look at the speedo (eyes were peeled looking for cops). Luckly there were 2 open lanes where we hit it so there was no traffic.

I had some fun with about a 93-94 5.0 GT.
He had a Cervanni hood ram type and sounded a bit warmed over. Teal green and aftermarket wheels and meaty rubber. Passed him on the way to work and he sorta hung back...I slowed after a while and let him come up..He would not pull even but slowed a couple times I tried to let him . So what the hell I romped on it anyway...pulled a few car lenghts up to 120 and then he stayed there untill 130. I backed off and so did he. I have run a 5.0 GT with My Stock SHO and he pulled me a car or so at about 130. This was on a two lane and his suspension wasn`t up to par....One off camber curve he backed way out of it. Precarious is the word that comes to mind. Great fun however.

Mobil 1 is al I have with water wetter in the RAdiator and intercooler.

Next week I order Sals chip and intake.

MTX Thunderform and Infinity Kappa components soon to follow.
Bedrug and clear corner lenses last but not least.Carbon Fiber dash kit and those frogskin seat covers toppin` it off...maybe.

Headers and exhaust will be last on My list.

Jeff C.

Reall do want to lower this thing maybe this summer. That Cervanni hood is lookin` good as well.

Hey Yoda check out my "Supra Humbled" post, it just happened tonight. Very similiar story but I pulled ahead and hit 100 mph. Did you have your O/D on? I think turning it off is what helped me pull ahead.

Do the Supra Turbos come stock with those huge exhausts? All the ones I've seen have that same tin can looking thing.

no they are aftermarket ones. ? for you, do you think if they supra was in front of you, he hits the gpedal then you do about 2 secs later that you woulda pulled on him, or would you have been playin catch up??? I know that when most people mod these things they are puttin some serious hp out. By reading some of the other car forums, some of these things are 400+ rwhp, hit the 1/4 in the low 12's, DANG. Oh well hope if I ever see him again we can start toghter (the race).

Yoda,

The year range of the last gen supra was 93-97. I have a Motor trend test spec on the 97 turbo, runs a 13.6. W/mods they get into mid 12's. You definitely ran a turbo.

Where's my new Lightning? I'm still waiting. When it finally arrives, I say, you, me, Joel, JRW, and Zonaman convoy it up to Black Canyon City, have breakfast, hit Cordes Junction over to Prescott, have lunch, go into Jerome, have a beer, then up to Sedona, have dinner, hit the switchbacks up to Flagstaff, have a drink at Grannys Closet or Fiddlestix, head down Lake Mary Road to Mormon Lake Lodge, hang with some good ol boys at the bar, then down through Pine/Strawberry/Payson and head home!!!! Oh man, that sounds so good, we are definitely doin it!

Joel,
We are doin it, for certain. I was #2 on the order list at Five Star Ford, their 1st shipment will be 2 units, and Job 1 is scheduled for Jan 31st, so maybe mine will be on their 1st shipment and maybe I'll have it the end of March. Weather will be perfect!

Christy Ann,
Oh yeah, sure, no problem, we'll just hang a right after we hit Flagstaff and be in Denver by nightfall. Lets see here, I took a trip a few years back in a Z28, made it from Phoenix to Denver in 11 hours, so based on those numbers, I don't think we can leave Flag at nightfall and make it to Denver the same night, darn.

Yoda,

I might've beat him just by the surprise factor alone. I was maintaining 65 while he was on my a**, when he pulled next to me I maintained 65 for about 5 seconds, turned off O/D then gunned it. He reacted to me so I definitely had a head start. I didn't pull way ahead of him, it was very close. When I cut in front of him he was still on my a**, I let off a little and gunned it again. I cut through some traffic (at 100 mph - I know, stupid but couldn't resist)and that's where I really pulled ahead. So yes, if he had a 2 sec. head start, I probably would've been on HIS a**. But he was confident enough to dare me, he probably thought he was gonna take me to school.
