When I received my order confirmation today from the Ford dealership, I was informed that the tonneau cover has been deleted as an option for 2000 Lightnings.

Personally, I think it's a great looking cover for the red L's. The red fibreglass covers look awfully red, if you know what I mean.

Would love some suggestions for other soft cover suppliers out there.

If there was any truth to the rumours that orders with tonneaus were going to be held up, I would suggest that this is no longer the case.

As always, keeping my eye on the Ontario Ford assembly plant hoping to see an L squeezed out the door.

I have the factory tonneau on my 99. The original on turned up at the rear corners. The fabric was stretched tight. They corrected this and sent me another. If you want the factory tonneau just stop in and order one at the dealer. It should fit the 2000 as well as it does the 99's.

I just got an update from my dealer today and he confirmed that the "L's" would start being born on 1/31/2000. One thing I haven't been able to verify is whether the 6 disk CD Changer will be available or whether the in-dash CD receiver will be offered instead.
I've also decided on the SnugLid cover without the trim and was wondering if a remote lock was available for it. Can anyone help?

I believe the Audio is as follows:
Premium Sound-Cassette AM/FM head unit
with standard 6 disk changer.

 

Hate to burst ones bubble, but for the 2000's and in dash cd player is present, along with the factory 6 disk changer (if ordered). Sorry, no tape decks in this. good or bad, thats personal preference

Where did you get your info? That changed in Oct. I got this info for SVT and it is what is in the dealer computer.

 

The factory order sheet certainly says that its coming with AM/FM/Cassette and CD changer.

The order sheet also states black capped sideview mirrors - not painted to match??

Very confusing. But hey, makes it even more interesting not knowing what is actually coming with a new vehicle. Can't take this kind of anticipation!!

Personally, no cassette is fine with me but I sure would like the matching mirrors.

From what ive been told when i ordered, and some other input from this board, the in dash cd player is probably what we are getting. Someone asked this a few months ago and got a huge response cause nobody knew for sure, so.... if i can find it i'll post it on here for you

 

I live near the Oakville plant in Ontario and apparantly one of the gent.s on the inside told me that the cassette and Cd changer are the same as our 99 units. When I start seeing them parked in the back near the rail car area, I will take a look for you gent.s

I beleive that the order confirmation sheet that the dealers have given us still has the specs for the '99's and hasn't been updated as of yet. According to my dealer, the '00's have not been "booked" yet and will not be until later this month.

I'm trying to get ahold of the dealer now to see if it's not too late to do a front license plate delete. I've run my '98 R/T without a plate for a year and a half without any problem. (I know its required but it sure makes the truck look a lot cleaner).

Has anyone been able to get any literature for the 2000 "L"'s? Thanks

The front license plate bracket was shipped loose with my 99.5. You just have to keep the dealer from putting it on before you pick up your truck. That is if they ever make it for you. Good luck with your new truck, remember that many of us 99 owners waited a long time as well (6 months in my case). Believe me, it will be worth the wait. Too bad you didn't pick RED though!

ugh my truck came with the front plate I hate it.

 

I saw a 2000 Black Lightning at the LA Auto show this past weekend, and it had color matched mirrors. (shiny black) and the in dash CD. Couldn't tell if it had the CD changer though. No Moroney sticker either. Also saw the Harley edition. IMO the pictures looked better than the truck. Tonneau looked bad, all the HD emblems looked worse. In Ford's defense, I'm hoping this was a well used prototype.
