Need Help Engine Popped This Morning

This morning I turn on My 01 lightning, and it made a pop and the engine started to shake and smell like burn. I stop the engine and turn it on again, and it sound like a piston slapping. Any Ideas would be apriciated.

Sounds like you blew a spark plug out.

Is there a puddle of oil under it?
Take a flashlight and do a thorough inspection to see what happened.

Yeah it is a spark plug. The coil plastic broke off were the bolt holds it on. I got the extented warranty. Has anyone one had the same problem? What were your experience with the dealer??

lol, probably around half the people on this board have had a sparkplug blow on them. It's a common thing that happens with pre 2003 Lightnings. To cut a long story short, the dealer will fix your problem by replacing that side cylinder head with an updated head that has more threads for the sparkplug 8-9, where the heads u have now have 3-4. Goodluck

I DEF think you should get a set of used factory plugs and put them in
and crazy enough, if you can re-install the factory cat back, I WOULD

As said Ford WILL void the wrrnty and fk you if they find ANY mods on the truck, even if we know they dont play a part.

So sorry, Good luck Bro

Welcome to the blown spark plug club. Your warranty should cover it and then you at least won't have to worry about it happening on that side again. The head they will put in will have 8 threads instead of the 4.

You need to have the stock plugs in as they will blame you or who ever put in the densos for a faulty install. Put the catback back on as well the closer to stock the better chance you have. Extended warrantee companys are not known for being to easy to deal with, This will cost them money and they will fight you over it.
Do not give them a chance. Go in with info about how many have blown both Lightnings and regular F150s.
Good luck
