Traction control question

I'm a new owner of an '02 L. Is the default setting for the traction control on? I'm thinking it is, and if so, how do you turn it off?
Thanks in advance;
Mootie

There is no traction control on these trucks.

Your right foot is the only traction control on your L.

Traction control? We don't need no stinking traction
control. A hot shoe on the skinny pedal makes all the
traction go away anyhow.

Welcome aboard The TIRE EXPRESS ..

You think its on??

Something must be wrong if you think you have traction control, either the truck is not running right or you have a LOT of great traction, and I doubt that. Is it spinning at all? They have a built-in boost dump that engages if the engines revs up too fast, and that can cause problems if you're trying to do a burnout. That is fixed with a "boost Bypass elimination" ..you can search these forums for how to do it. But be sure that's your problem.. what is your complaint? Is the truck sluggish or cutting out or something? BK

Traction control would sure be nice in the rain though, even as much fun as it is turning it sideways

I had a 'Vette with traction control, and it sucks. Pull out of a parking lot and hit the gas, spin you wheels 1 revolution due to some pebbles in the street, and the traction control kicks in and kills the throttle for a second or two. Meanwhile traffic behind you is about to rearend your car. I built a one-shot timer that automatically disabled it upon start up - best mod I ever did to that car.

My Girlfriend's '03 GT Mustang has traction control, with a 5 speed even! I so hate it when I forget it's there and want to dump the clutch. It even kicks in and makes it stumble when I chirp 2nd and 3rd on a good run!! ..it also re-engages itself after time as a default, so you got to watch the little bugger!! LOL

If that Stang has a button to disable the traction control, you can build a timer for your car as well. I have the part # and a schematic if you're interested.

Thanks for the info, I accidently started a new thread last night when I meant to post a reply here--newbie learning curve! I'm not having any problems leaving some tire behind, somehow I seem to remember being told that lightnings had traction control from the factory, and if you turned it off an idiot light on the dash would turn on saying "traction control". Now I know.
Gotta say I just love the Lightning--I have a '98 F150 STX that I bought new, and its been a great truck, but the L is all that and sooo much more. Ford should never have dropped the L.
The GTO has been my project since 94, now it looks like I have 2 projects.
Regards,
Stuffins
