Exclamation Engine rattle, etc.

Sal and others,

I've read several references to the fact that at some point in the Lightning production they changed the engine design to eliminate piston rattle and other problems. Does anyone know when they began to install the newer engine in the Lightning? I have #1530 with 3800 miles and none of the problems mentioned. I'm beginning to wonder if I should start to worry.

Thanks,

adp

Mine went @ 7000 miles. The engine build date was 4/18/99 if I remember correctly. I also belive that the "fix" date was before that. If it doesn't make noise after it is warmed up don't worry yourself. My new engine has the same date as the crate engines that some guys got (11/17/99) it runs stronger than the first. I'm just glad its a warranty job.In my case it seems to have been some misguided good luck. My truck is #1153 5/11/99.
