Question shadetree help anyone?

Could anyone out there please help me as i think i`ve reached the end of my abilities/tether with this one and i know somebody will chime in with a simple fix (I hope)
Story goes like this: driving down slip road off motorway and easing up on the throttle i realised that i`d lost all power although engine was still running.
As i came to a horrified stop the engine was trying to cut out and stall and would only move a couple of yards at a time in gear before cutting out altogether.
After a call to my friendly area rep for American Auto Club U.K. i had a flat bed truck to take me and the baby home.
Checked all hoses and connections and after consulting here cleaned and then changed my Idle Air Control valve- no difference.
On initial start up it takes a few s to start but then runs fine for about a minute before the revs drop and engine eventually cuts out, it`s like some system is coming into play and that`s when the problem starts

Have you ever changed the fuel filter?
Running ok at idle but not under load is a classic symptom.
The manual calls for a change at 30,000 but I changed mine at 19,000 and it made quite a difference.

EDIT: I just noticed from your other post that you run on LPG.
Is the problem on Petrol or the gas?

Hi Adam,thanks for responding.
The fuel filter got changed about 10k miles ago so i don`t know, i have a spare i think i`ll try it but it`s the running ok for at least a minute that had me discounting the fuel system.
The problem happened on petrol not lpg and i can`t keep it running long enough to enable the lpg system to kick in to totally discount the fuel system.
I have a tune (SCT) and taking out the tune makes no difference either.
I've just read that the fuel relays can go (hi/lo) and the '99 L had a problem with one of the twin in tank lines coming off but again, why does it run fine when first started?

just like to add that no codes are showing before or after my problem, going to check my fuel pressure and try disconnecting and jumpering the relays.

Sounds like the Y between the two pumps is split or disconnected on one pump. If its not throwing any SES codes, that's your problem. Common amoung the 99 L's

Ok, checked fuel pressure (29psi) and fuel relays (ok)
Now i found that if i disconnect the plug to the MAF the engine idles fine but stalls when given any gas, i've tried a different known good MAF with the same results so am i looking at a computer problem?????
I hope not, i heard it was expensive!!

29psi at idle is to low, should be idling arounf 30-35 with a good clean fuel filter. I still say your fuel supply line in the tank is split.

Well finally got it fixed!
After replacing fuel filter and having made no difference i bit the bullet and crawled underneath and dropped the fuel tank to have a look at the pumps, no mean feat when the tank was 3/4 full!
Job not as bad as i had thought and lo and behold, the infamous 1999 tube off pump was there!
Two hours from start of raising the rear to start up and she was done!
What a feeling when u hear the sound of the engine rev sweetly knowing that you fixed it all yourself, (with a little help from you guys of course)
Thanks guys

Mark
