One thing Ford has always been good at is making something that works for the application it was intended, they dont just make one-fit-all, like Generic, I mean General Motors.
Yeah, mine fits in the stock location so I'm sure it is original (truck has 21,000 miles) I will probably just go with the stock replacement because I'm pretty good when it comes to proventitive maintenance.

Good PLan, I'd rather replace my filter every 15k miles (twice as often as the book says)with the right one, than to jeopardize the integrity of the fuel system.... unless someone has proof that the bigger filter flows as well or better??

it's on the fuel rail. black plastic screw-on cap, schraider (sp) valve. you don't really need to mess with it though. just let the truck sit for a while and it'll be ok. did mine the other night after it sat for four hours (i opened the gas cap too just before i did it. don't know if that mattered or not.). you could do it first-thing saturday morning, after it sits overnight, before you go anywhere.
