SEVERAL PERSONAL BESTS set yesterday. Need help though>>>

Yesterday was a terrific day (for me) at the track.

I got a new highest trap speed with slicks, fastest ET with Slicks, Fastest ET with F1's, highest trap speed with F1's.
60' times still SUCK!

All thanks to FREE MODS.
Pulled the front sway bar, and passenger seat (Thank you RICH) as he showed me what to do. (never did it before)

Did the old Cardboard to block off the front grill held with Zip ties (video
to come soon) and I really really think that allowed me to go faster.

Now to the good stuff.

Best ET with slicks.

60' 1.88
330' 5.2768
1/8 et 8.093
1/8mph 87.09
1000' 10.523
1/4 et 12.5758
1/4mph 109.80
---------------------------------------------------------------------

BEST MPH with SLicks: (against Rich, who was .13 faster ET, but 1.35mph slower)

60' 2.08
330' 5.554
1/8 et 8.379
1/8mph 86.84
1000' 10.811
1/4 12.8591
1/4 110.02

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
BEST ET and MPH with Goodyear F1's.
60' 2.025
330' 5.4430
1/8et 8.2411
1/8 mph 87.72'
1000' 10.6570
1/4 et 12.6961
1/4mph 110.55

Rich with Nitrous that was welll... I'll let him tell you ran:
12.6841 @ 108.73

------------------------------------------------------------

So I hit a 12.5, I hit 100mph on slicks, I got a PB on F1's, and the highest trap speed on F1's.

So here's a question. My 60' times sucks, that's obvious.

How did I run 110mph on F1's and on SLicks. THe slicks STUCK on launch the F1's spun (remember 4.10 gears out back) but yet I ran the same MPH?

ALSO, my best SLick and F1 times aren't that much different. WHy?
THe F1's spun when I hit 2nd also, the slicks didn't.

It was getting progessively cooler Saturday, but it was still at least 20 degrees warmer than last weekend when I hit a PB of 12.72 on slicks.

I know I shed some weight (sway bar, and passenger seat) but I don't think I'd pick up .2 in the 1/4 mile and over 3mph.
I did block off the front grill, looked redneck, but it worked. Got a few comments about it, but it was all in fun.

I'll get some video a little later tonight, I have to help a friend move to Bay City today, then stop by Jeronimo's and chat for a bit.

ALL in all I was pretty happy with my times. I think if I could have stayed longer (they closed at 6:30) my times would have gotten better.

I seem to have the best TRAP speed if I leave off idle and put it through the floor boards on slicks, and slowly ease into it with the F1's.

Last week I cut a handful of 1.7x 60' times, yesterday i cut a best of 1.8870 with slicks. I know I'm running the stock convertor but I'm at a loss. i've tried leaving from idle, from various RPM's, from basically brake torquing the rear tires.. my results are all over the place. At each run I use the digital odometer trick to see exactly where I'm leaving from. I think it may be time for a new convertor (well not now, but maybe in the spring).

This was done on a conservative Street tune, verified by Wydopnthrtl. where my timing is at 16 degrees MAXIMUM, the a/f is very rich and conservative.

all in all, I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY with yesterday's results.
(wait until you see the cardboard I put in the grill)

slicks

what slicks are you using? I was running Hoosier QTP 28's for a couple years and my 60's were always in the 1.90's. I was making about 440/530 so I know something was wrong. Tried everything.

Got a new set of Hoosier full slicks. I think they are the C6 compound or something. You want to talk about difference??? 1.78. Same tune and setup on the truck. I know how frustrating it can be.

I run nitto drags on the truck all the time on the street and i think they suck at the track . I ran faster mph on slicks then i did on them.........

I think your higher mph is do to the fact your spinning. If you are running back to back runs and you have lower 60's, you mph will be down a bit. When you spin, your trap speed will go up a bit, but et goes down. That's what i've seen on my truck.

I let the truck cool down bwteen the slick run and the F1 run.
But it seems when I spin a little the MPH goes up, but ET goes down. Same as you were seeing.

I think I really need to work on my 60' times.

Last Sunday I ran my street tune for my 1st 2 passes, and ran my race tune on the next 3.

Street tune

60' 1.8?
1/8 8.0?

Race tune

60' 1.7?
1/8 7.7-7.9

I'm running slicks also, with no spin. Also this was my first time running with the 6lb pulley instead of the 4lb. My race tune is 20 or 21 degrees timing 12.0 AFR. The street tune has a max timing of 16, and a little richer. Race tune I run 100 octane.

Typically you trap higher when you spin..........because you have more time to accelerate.

That's my way of thinking!

I did'nt set any new bests. Could have though if I had'nt run out of nitrous... then remembered to turn it back on after the fill.

Still managed to make some pig rich pass's though. So l-menace, your finally in the same timezone. Whoo hooo! Although our last pass was close. Too close IMO. I got you off the tree, but our ETs were only 0.01 apart with both of us on street tires.
