Post K&N vs PSP air filter

Hi all I have a K&N filter on my 99 lightning and it appears that I can pull 10psi, really mades a difference. Has anyone compaired the K&N to the PSP from a performance aspect? Even seat of the pants would be nice!

F1, is yours the flat filter in the stock air box or the cone K&N? PSP's cone filter has a convex bowl that butts up against the cold air hole in fender to draw it in. i did not see a big increase in psi, still past 10psi, but it comes on twice as fast, the needle really jumps.

Mine is the cheapo $41 flat filter that uses the standard air box, I'm familure with all of the current aftermarket air systems thou. Since I did see an increase in performance I was tring to evaluate if I should order Sals PSP air system as well as his chip or just stay with the K&N.

Thumbs up

it's up to you. many months ago, people were trying to find out about the "free hp" that svt rumored about with the air system. guys at the track ran truck with no filter, and no difference. ran it with no filter/no boot to fender, no difference. the box itself was the restriction. get one of "other 3", you'll love it, as for a chip, both are excellent, go with who treats you the best.
good luck

Hey f1car,

I really liked the intake that Sal (PSP) made because it is an very easy installation (I had to do it) and the S/C makes more noise than be for and you get more boot faster.

my two cents...

From postings I've seen on the board and my personal experience, it will take 2-4 weeks for sal's filter.

Nathan is probably right, but it is certainly worth the wait, IMHO.

Exclamation

Mine took about 4 weeks but was worth the wait. Well crafted piece of hardware and that supercharger howls like a banshee now, drowns out the tire squeal when you catch second even.
